00:00The proud owner of 15 professional titles and 4 majors, Brooks Koepka is one of the
00:05main characters currently on the PGA Tour. Famous for his golf as well as his long-standing
00:11rivalry with Bryson DeChambeau, let's get to know the American a little bit better with
00:15these 10 facts.
00:18Brooks was born in West Palm Beach, Florida. He stayed in his home state to go to college
00:23and attended Florida State University on a golf scholarship. He started his professional
00:28career on the Challenge Tour in Europe, winning his first event in September 2012 at the Challenge
00:33de Catalunya. He went on to win two more times on the Challenge Tour, thus granting
00:38him a European Tour card for the remainder of the 2013 season and the whole of the 2014
00:44season.
00:45Koepka was the first golfer to ever win back-to-back majors at the same time. He did this by defending
00:51the US Open and the PGA Championship. He defended his 2017 US Open in 2018 and then
00:58defended his 2018 PGA Championship win in 2019. He became the 20th men's player to
01:05win two majors in a year and with these four majors, only two active golfers have more
01:11majors than him, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.
01:14Koepka is only the fifth men's player in the history of golf to win the US Open and
01:18the PGA Championship in the same year. The others were Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Jack
01:24Nicholas and Tiger Woods.
01:26Brooks started playing golf when he was 10 years old. This was following a car crash
01:30that left him with facial injuries that meant he was banned from playing contact sports.
01:34His fiancée, who is often seen celebrating with him after victories, is actress Jenna
01:39Sims. She's been in films alongside the likes of Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro and
01:44Michael Douglas and she also runs an award winning non-profit organisation called Pageant
01:50of Hope.
01:51After his CJ Cup victory in October 2018, Brooks Koepka became the world number one.
01:58In doing so, he became the 23rd man to top the rankings.
02:01Brooks' brother Chase Koepka is also a touring professional. Chase has played on the European
02:06and Challenge Tours and now competes on the PGA and Korn Ferry Tours.
02:11Koepka's great uncle Dick Grote played shortstop for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He won two World
02:17Series and was the 1960 National League MVP.
02:22Sport runs very strong throughout the Koepka family and Brooks' favourite teams from other
02:26sports include Manchester United, the LA Lakers and the Green Bay Packers.
02:31Koepka was Rookie of the Year on the European Tour in 2014 and then on the PGA Tour in 2015.
02:37In 2015 he won the Phoenix Open and then finished 10th at the Open Championship.
