00:00The East Coast Digital Programme will introduce digital signalling for services on the route
00:06north from London King's Cross. Traditional signalling involves traffic lights on sticks
00:11at the side of tracks. Digital signalling is provided through a screen in the driver's
00:16cab. Having a signalling system on the screen gives a much better view of everything that
00:21comes ahead. It helps me drive at exactly the right speed, keeping the train on time.
00:25It also means a less chance of delays due to signal failures.
00:30We're already using in-cab signalling between Finsbury Park and Moorgate in London and we're
00:35making preparations to bring it to the mainline services to and from London King's Cross.
00:41Further work is taking place on 30th November and 1st December to prepare for in-cab signalling.
00:48It'll affect services to and from London King's Cross. Please check before you travel.
