Santa is heading to Tenby this Saturday to turn on the seaside town’s Christmas lights.
The festive switch on is one of the highlights on the seaside town’s winter calendar.
Tenby RNLI will be launching its all-weather lifeboat at 4pm to pick up Santa from a secret location, before returning to the lifeboat station, to escort the big man (and Tenby’s Mayor Cllr Dai Morgan) into Tudor Square by a ‘blue light’ parade via St Julians Street, for the switch-on at 4.45pm
But the festive fun begins well before then, with plenty of entertainment in the centre of town throughout the day, starting with a Christmas market at 9.30am, organised by Tenby Lions.
Local DJ Steve Briers will be on hand from 10.30am, to keep the Christmas atmosphere swinging with plenty of festive, chart and popular music favourites. Live performances will take place in Tudor Square throughout the day, in the lead up to Father Christmas arriving.
At 11am Tenby Round Table will be hosting the famous ‘Santa Run’ with hundreds taking to the seaside streets and coastal walkways for what is sure to be another memorable charity event.
At 1pm and 3pm, there will be dance displays from the Kelly Williams School of Dance.
In between, guitarist and vocalist Richard Henton will be playing at 2pm; before Sam Skyrme-Blackhall sings at 3pm.
At 4.30pm there will be Christmas Carols and songs from the Salvation Army Band and Communiyty Choir.
After the switch-on of the lights and tree, Santa will be at his grotto at St Mary’s Church House.
A temporary road closure of High Street, Tudor Square and St Julians Street, will be in place between 8 am and 7 pm, for November 30, to facilitate all associated festive activities.
During the closure any vehicles wishing to get to/leave the Harbour area will do so via Crackwell Street which will be temporarily made two way under traffic light control.
Arrangements will be put in place by the Town Council for residents/carers wishing to get to properties within the restricted area.
