00:47More than 30 hectares of Lapapa Chea is covered by mangrove forest.
00:52It's only been a few months and it's summer again.
00:54And because of the heat, migratory birds are expected to arrive.
00:59Lapapa Chea is the only bird sanctuary in Metro Manila.

01:08There's a birdwatching station called D.E.N.R. inside the park.
01:11If you happen to see different kinds of birds,
01:15you can come here.
01:16But you have to wake up early.
01:19At present, there are 82 wild bird species.
01:23Of these, 41 are migratory.
01:26Not only humans, but also animals benefit from this urban forest.
01:31It's a protection from typhoons,
01:33a water repellent,
01:34and a filter for polluted air.
