Endeavour's eldest child, Toya Todoroki, was born with a great deal of potential and the desire to be a hero. Because of Endeavour's fixation on outperforming All Might, his kids were viewed as nothing more than instruments in his quest for excellence. With a fire quirk more powerful than Endeavor's but a body unable of withstanding the heat, Toya became a continual reminder of failure as well as a symbol of hope.
Despite being aware of the toll it took on his son's physique, Endeavour pushed Toya inexorably. Toya's own fires caused him to suffer emotional as well as bodily burns. His dissatisfaction became to resentment as his pleas for approval and attention went unanswered. Especially once Endeavor turned his attention to Shoto, the youngest sister, he felt abandoned.
