Several areas of the country could endure weather-related travel delays on Nov. 26.
Transcript
00:00So far, we've been good to go with
00:02any kind of airport delays.
00:03That is excellent news across
00:04the country for today.
00:05A large chunk of the country is
00:07dealing with good weather and we're
00:09going to be starting to watch things
00:11increase here from West to East as
00:13we track this storm across the country.
00:15Through the Thanksgiving holiday time period,
00:17we do expect the number of
00:19flight cancellations to go up.
00:20This is accurate.
00:21US flight cancellation forecast.
00:22We expect that number to be 130 by
00:24Wednesday and 225 by Thanksgiving Day,
00:26but for the number to continue to go up,
00:29the number to continue to decrease
00:31significantly as we headed to Friday.
00:32And Saturday,
00:33a wet start to the morning in the
00:35Northeast would still mean some
00:36wet roads out there.
00:37Take it slow.
00:38Watch yourself.
00:38Hydroplaning can happen very
00:40easily on some wet roads and
00:41dangerous travel across parts of
00:42New York, Vermont and New Hampshire,
00:44even into Maine because of
00:46freezing rain this morning.
00:47So even best drivers,
00:48it's very, very difficult,
00:49if not impossible to drive on those
00:51glazed over surfaces where we get
00:53with the freezing rain we head into
00:55the West Coast where it's a little
00:57bit of a bit of a bit of a
00:59snowstorm, but it's the mountainous
01:00rain that we're really going to be
01:02watching for the most impactful travel
01:04because of some heavy snow coming on down.
01:06Still good to go in Denver,
01:08but we'll be watching that snow start
01:10to move on in later today and into
01:12tonight where West of Denver that's
01:13will have the highest amount 6 to 12,
01:16even 12 to 18 inches of snow moving
01:18across parts of Utah as well.
01:19Pueblo could see about an inch to
01:21three inches in Denver,
01:22a couple inches of snow here through
01:24today and into tonight I should say
01:26into Wednesday and into the day on
01:28Thursday, so we're going to be watching
01:30that as we head throughout the middle
01:32of the week and that will bring
01:34some travel impacts tomorrow.
01:35I mentioned, you know,
01:36always having a full tank of gas, right?
01:38That's the first tip there,
01:39but making sure that you have snacks,
01:41water packed in your car,
01:43building a supply kit with a first aid kit.
01:45Also really helpful.
01:46Always planning for the worst case scenario
01:48here, especially when we're talking about
01:50millions of traveling for this holiday.
01:51The bigger problems into the
01:53mountainous terrain of the West,
01:54and then also across the Northeast,
01:56especially as we head into
01:57the day Wednesday.
01:58Florida is just good to go for
02:00the next several days.
