00:00As far as we know, this monorail has been in operation for more than 20 years.
00:12And from the beginning of this monorail operation, they built these monorail stations.
00:20In the past, there were no doors between the platform and the rail.
00:25This is because in the beginning, they only built two car sets.
00:31But in 2010, the government implemented a project to build a platform.
00:41They also built a platform between the platform and the rail.
00:53But in 2016, this project was suspended.
00:58And the doors were also suspended.
01:03And from the beginning until now, even though the doors were physically installed,
01:09the doors were never operated.
01:11Because it could not be fixed.
01:14And there was a problem with the signaling, with the system, and so on.
01:18And even though the doors were physically installed,
01:21but it could not be closed automatically when the train arrived.
01:25And this caused a lot of problems to the passengers.
01:29From 2017 until 2024, in this time, 10 incidents occurred.
01:37These incidents occurred when passengers fell into the track.
01:42Because there were no doors between the platform and the rail.
01:47There were passengers waiting at the platform.
01:50Sometimes they were too focused on the phone.
01:53And when the train arrived, they stepped on the platform and fell into the track.
01:57And this is very dangerous.
01:59And especially at KL Sentral station, near Brickfields,
02:04there were a lot of passengers from the OKU group, the blind.
02:09So the blind, of course, needed guidance to get on the train.
02:16And indeed, there were no doors, which caused a risk to the blind OKU passengers.
02:23So indeed, this project is very important.
02:27At the beginning of this year, when I met with the management of Prasarana,
02:32I challenged the management to prepare this project within a year.
02:38And they have offered this value to a company
02:44to prepare all the doors operations in April last year,
02:49with a contract value of RM6.81 million.
02:53So, although this project is supposed to take 12 months,
02:58but I would like to announce today,
03:01two of the stations have been prepared and are operating with their doors,
03:06which are KL Sentral and Tun Sambatan station.
03:09By the end of this month, four more stations will be ready with their doors,
03:15which are Maharaja Rera, Imbi, Hang Tua and Bukit Bintang.
03:19And in addition, by the end of this year, 31st December,
03:23all the stations, including Raja Churan, Benda Tuanku, Titi Wangsa, Bukit Nanas and Chowkit,
03:29will be ready with their doors, or PAGS.
03:35In addition, another problem that I often hear from the public,
03:43is that all the monorail stations are elevated.
03:46All the stations are on top.
03:48They must go up the stairs.
03:50And for OKU, they need elevators to go up to the station.
03:54So, we do know that there are many stations that are facing lift and escalators problems.
04:00As for the escalators, we do monitor and make sure that all the monorail stations,
04:04the escalators are always maintained, always in place,
04:07and that all the problems are solved as soon as possible.
04:11I would also like to say that by the end of April next year,
04:16all the elevators in all the stations will be prepared in terms of their maintenance,
04:22and will be repaired and ready to be used by the end of April next year.
04:27Because this lift problem is indeed a problem that has plagued our stations for a long time,
04:34and indeed now we hope to speed up the project to repair the lifts and also the facilities in the stations.
04:43So, all of this we want to improve for the users of public transport.
04:48Hopefully, this improvement can increase the number of passengers in our public transport.
