00:00I have a direct question to the NTA. Either you give a clear cut in your information bulletin
00:08that you will only admit millionaires, politicians and rich kids.
00:11Here's all we know about the NEET controversy.
00:19NEET is a nationwide examination for aspiring medical students to be enrolled in medical
00:24colleges and universities across the country. The 2024 NEET exam was held on 5th May 2024.
00:32An estimated 23 lakh students took the exam.
00:38On 5th May, reports emerged of a paper leak after photos of a questioned paper made the
00:44rounds on social media. On the next day, the national testing agency that conducts the
00:49examination denied the allegations of a paper leak. They said that English-language questioned
00:55papers had been accidentally distributed at a centre in Rajasthan, following which students
01:00walked out of the centre in protest, which led to the viral photographs.
01:04There has been a paper leak. There has been an arrest in Bihar. There has been an arrest in Delhi.
01:10There is no evidence of a paper leak.
01:17The results of the examination were announced on 4th June, on the same day as the results
01:23of the general elections, 10 days before they were scheduled to be announced. 67 students
01:28had received the All India Rank 1. Last year, 2 students had topped the exam. In fact, the
01:34most number of students before this receiving a top rank was in 2021 with 3 students.
01:43Although some students scored a perfect score, the NTA said that this was possible because
01:48of grace marks awarded to 1,563 students due to a loss of time at their examination centre.
02:136 students who received the All India Rank 1 were from the same centre.
02:42On 8th June, the director-general of the NTA maintained that there had been no compromises
02:47to the integrity of the exam.
02:49NTA is a very transparent organisation and at every stage we share the information with
02:55the candidates. We have analysed all the things transparently and then declared the result.
03:02So the integrity, etc., of this exam throughout the country was not compromised.
03:11On 11th June, the Supreme Court issued a notice to the NTA saying that the sanctity
03:16of the examination had been compromised.
03:25On June 11th, several student groups protested outside the Ministry of Education, demanded
03:31that there be a retest.
