00:00You know what? I've always said, and I'll stick to it,
00:02your body, your business.
00:03And I think I was terrified when I first heard about Ozempic
00:08and then started realizing that whether they were direct about it
00:12or secretive about it, it did seem like my peers
00:15or people that I looked up to in the industry
00:17had potentially been taking it.
00:19Or then you don't know and you're questioning it.
00:21And I was really scared coming from an eating disorder background
00:24that it was just going to emphasize this need for thinness
00:27and this obsession with thinness.
00:29And I also was really worried because it can cost money.
00:33It was then going to divide and create this, like,
00:36disparity of people with lower income
00:39that didn't have access to this drug and people who did.
00:43And then it kind of just, like,
00:45feeding into this really divisive classes,
00:49classist kind of bat phobia.
00:51So I don't know.
00:51I was really, there were so many thoughts
00:53that I didn't really know how to feel about it.
00:56However, I've had multiple close friends
00:58who were not online, just, you know,
01:01mom friends from women that I know in Austin in the business,
01:05and they have found it life-changing.
01:07Either they felt demotivated
01:10or felt like they've tried things in the past
01:12that never seemed to really move the needle for them
01:16in the sense of, like, a healthy lifestyle change.
01:19And they saw immediate results, felt motivated,
01:23and then started really being able to commit
01:25to eating this, you know, more nutritious diet.
01:28Or working out more regularly
01:30and, like, really sticking to it
01:32because they felt this, like, motivation.
01:34My friend was just like,
01:36it was just like someone, like, held my hand
01:38and, like, was with me on this journey
01:40that I've been trying to do for many, many years.
01:42And now I feel my best.
01:44And the binge-eating voices have calmed down.
01:47And I'm being, you know, consistent
01:49with so many things that I've always wanted to
01:51and always really struggled at.
01:52So, listen, it's, we don't know
01:56how it's gonna impact our society, I don't think,
01:59because it's still so early.
02:02But I think it's something that should be available
02:05to people who need it.
02:08But I also think there is gonna need to be
02:10some kind of counselling and more research.
02:13And as a society, we're gonna just have to be really aware
02:16of how we judge people, A, who choose to be on it,
02:19because, yeah, your body, your choice, you go for it.
02:22But, B, the people who are, like, wanting to
02:26and don't have access to it.
02:27And then how, if they're then shunned because of phobia,
02:31how that's gonna play into society.
02:33So I think it's new.
02:35It's kind of scary.
02:37But I think it's also been beneficial for a lot of people.
02:40And I love to see people happy and confident
02:43and feeling empowered.
02:44And if this drug did that for them,
02:46like, that makes me feel excited for them.
02:49And, you know, it's a lot to unpack, though.
02:52It's a lot to unpack.
