00:00I've listened to a lot of Diljit, I think he's great.
00:04Something happens, Anjali.
00:06It's not like all the others.
00:07Did I? Alright, yeah.
00:14Hi, this is Ed Sheeran for Brute.
00:16Hi Ed, how are you?
00:17I'm alright, how are you?
00:18So this is your first, I think your third time that you're visiting India, right?
00:22Yeah.
00:22What is it about the country that has pleasantly surprised you?
00:27Well, it's actually, I just found this out today,
00:30but it's my biggest market outside, well, no, it is my biggest market.
00:35So the people in India listen to my music more than anyone else listens to my music in the world.
00:40So that's pleasantly surprised me.
00:44And do you listen to any kind of Indian music?
00:46Quite a lot, actually, yeah.
00:47I think like the first time I came over here,
00:51I went to a small party with a bunch of people that were big stars in Bollywood.
00:57And I think that that kind of opened the door.
01:00There's a lot of Indian music that's, yeah, fantastic.
01:03I'd say that that's kind of what I've been listening to the most for the last year and a bit.
01:07So who would you say are your favourite Indian musicians?
01:10I've listened to a lot of Diljit, I think he's great.
01:12I love Aman, obviously, having worked with him.
01:16And I think, yeah, King has made some really exciting stuff.
01:20You mentioned that, you know, you hung out with a bunch of Bollywood folks.
01:25I'm curious to know, how do you think celebs in India are different from celebs in the West?
01:30Celebs in the West, I guess, like, I mean, I'm generalising here,
01:34but like, I can only really do one thing, I can just, I can sing and play guitar.
01:40Whereas like, I think Bollywood is, you have to be an amazing dancer,
01:44you have to be an amazing actor, you have to be an amazing singer,
01:47but like really specifically good at all those things.
01:49And it's, like, I watched this movie with my mates, maybe like a year ago,
01:54RRR, is it called RRR here?
01:57Yeah.
01:57Yeah, but just like the dancing in that, and it's a fantastic film,
02:03that's like an epic three-hour film.
02:05And, you know, just the technical ability to be able to do all of those things,
02:11I think is impressive.
02:13Would RRR class as Bollywood though?
02:15Not Bollywood, Indian film, yes.
02:20The guy that basically discovered me in the music industry
02:23was this guy Zubin Irani, and it was one, I was playing a gig in Manchester,
02:28and it was just one person that watched me, and it turned out to be this guy Zubin,
02:31who ended up being my lawyer, representing me, helped get me signed and blah, blah, blah.
02:35So when, and he is Indian, and when I was coming to Mumbai,
02:40he said, oh, my friend, no, my cousin is out there,
02:43so hook up with her, this girl, Farrah Khan.
02:46And when we arrived, she was just like, yeah, come to this thing.
02:50It was really fun, you know, we danced, we ate some incredible food,
02:53and I met some really cool people that night, but yeah.
02:56But it was like one of those ones where it was like the perfect, the perfect night,
03:02like everything, everything was just great.
