"I know India better than most people." Imran Khan also said he wants to debate Narendra Modi on live TV. Should our PM accept his offer?
Transcript
00:00Listen, I would love to debate with Marendar Modi on TV, but you know when when my party
00:05came into power in 2018, first thing I did was to reach out to India.
00:11So I immediately reached out.
00:14But then I discovered through my horror that this is not the India I used to know.
00:30It's not the India I used to know, it's not the India I used to love, it's not the India
00:37I used to hate, it's not the India I used to love, it's not the India I used to hate,
00:44it's not the India I used to love, it's not the India I used to hate, it's not the India
00:51I used to love, it's not the India I used to hate, it's not the India I used to hate,
00:59it's not the India I used to love, it's not the India I used to hate, it's not the India
01:00I used to love, it's not the India I used to hate, it's not the India I used to love.
01:02You have your own conflict to solve and it may be a very stupid question on my part but
01:08because we all know that, you know, bad peace is better than a good war.
01:13But still, historically, do you think it's better to leave a conflict in the limbo for
01:22decades on end?
01:24Or do you think issues should be solved when they are hot?
01:30You see, if humans want, they can solve any conflict.
01:36The problem is that the humans, the leaders, and I'm talking about the leaders, I'm sure
01:42people in Ukraine and in Russia, everyone understands that if there's a conflict, there
01:47will be consequences.
01:48Everyone will be worse.
01:49But it's not about the people.
01:50People on either side don't want this conflict to happen.
01:54Exactly.
01:55But I think that the leadership in the countries is then stuck.
02:01That if we withdraw from this position, what will be the consequences to us politically?
02:07Because politically there are consequences always.
02:10And I think it takes very powerful, great leaders who rise above this and who think
02:17about the effects on the human beings.
02:20I do want to ask you about great leadership, but very quickly, I know that you have tried
02:25to deal with your mutual grievances with India over Kashmir, and I'm sure you're not satisfied
02:32with the results of those efforts.
02:36Are you going to leave that issue to your successors, or are you still hoping to try
02:40something new?
02:41Do you know, when my party came into power in 2018, first thing I did was to reach out
02:49to India.
02:50And I told them, you know, our only issue is Kashmir, let's sit down on the table and
02:55resolve it.
02:56Let's have a roadmap.
02:58But I didn't realize, you know, and remember, I'm the one who knows India better than anyone
03:03because cricket is a passion, you know, in the subcontinent.
03:07And because of, you know, me being captain of cricket here and sort of playing lots of
03:12over 10 years against India, I know India better than most people.
03:17So I immediately reached out.
03:20But then I discovered, to my horror, that this is not the India I used to know, because
03:26it's been taken over by this mad ideology.
03:29It's a racist ideology, which was inspired by the Nazis.
03:36The founding fathers were inspired by the Nazis.
03:39You can Google on your phone and you can, the founding fathers praised the Nazis, racial
03:45superiority.
03:47And you see, there's a negative nationalism, there's a positive nationalism.
03:52You must distinguish between the two.
03:53I can inspire my people by saying, look, you were a great nation, let's now get back again.
03:59But if I say you were a great nation, but because of these other human communities,
04:05you could not reach the top, so shift the hatred towards them, there is always bloodshed.
04:10Prime Minister, I'm sure your counterpart in New Delhi would disagree, but if Prime Minister
04:14Modi wants to share his own views, we would be more than happy to travel to New Delhi
04:19and interview him on that very…
04:20Listen, listen, I would love to debate with Narendra Modi on TV.
04:23It would be so good for over a billion people on the subcontinent, if we can resolve our
04:29differences through a debate.
