Transcript
00:00Aryan is so into Shah Rukh that he would follow his religion, I feel.
00:05I never thought Gauri would be a good mother.
00:12You're a Punjabi girl married to a Khan. How does that form a place in your marriage today?
00:17Shah Rukh, he doesn't have any parents, unfortunately.
00:21If they were there, you know, there's some elderly person in the house who follows any kind of religious activity at home.
00:29But nothing like that really happens. It's me who takes in charge, you know, of any Diwali or Holi or any festival.
00:37And so that's why influence of my kids would be a lot, you know, with the Hindu part of me, which is very strong.
00:47But the thing is that Aryan is so into Shah Rukh that he would follow his religion, I feel.
00:53He'll always say, I'm a Muslim. And when he tells this to my mother, she gets, what do you mean?
00:59She gets a little upset when that happens.
01:00She doesn't get upset. You know, now she's dealing with it. But it's true.
01:04So they'd be happy if there was a balance.
01:06But there is a balance. I respect Shah Rukh's religion, but that doesn't mean that I would convert and become a Muslim.
01:14I don't believe in that. I think everybody is an individual and they should follow their, you know, religion.
01:21But obviously there should be no disrespect. Like Shah Rukh would not disrespect my religion.
01:26In terms of, you know, you're quite forthright about your opinion when you see Shah Rukh's film.
01:30You're quite critical about his film.
01:32I don't think I'm overcritical at all. I mean, in the sense that if he's bad in a film or if he's, it's okay.
01:42I don't need to praise him even if he's bad. If he's bad, then he has to accept the fact that he was not good.
01:48It's just, I'm an audience. And if I feel that he's overacted or he was not so great, I should tell him, you know.
01:55And do you think recently in a film you have told him honestly what you thought?
01:58No, his past few films have all been good.
02:01Okay. Oh, really? And which one was it?
02:03I mean, in the recent times.
02:04And which one was it?
02:05Many. I have not seen many of his bad films, but I don't remember.
02:10Guddu and all those various films that English Babu Desi Mein.
02:17I remember you walked out of Shakti and you called him.
02:20That was totally unbearable. I mean, I don't want to sound.
02:24That was his special appearance.
02:26That was his worst performance in a long time.
02:28And you know he gets quite upset when you say things like that to him.
02:31He does, yeah. He needs to deal.
02:34See, my problem with him is, I respect him for his profession, that he's a great actor.
02:40And he's reached that everybody says he's King Khan.
02:44And he gets great write-ups.
02:47But my point is that he knows that.
02:50So he should know something which he doesn't.
02:52You know, he doesn't hear from other people.
02:54And I should tell him because nobody else is going to tell him.
02:56So I should tell him, I feel.
02:58You've seen failure, you've seen success, you've seen huge success.
03:01And then you've seen the children.
03:02After the children, is life any different today in terms of your emotional bonding with her?
03:07I think, surprisingly, I never thought Gauri would be a good mother.
03:10She doesn't come across as a children-friendly lady.
03:14I didn't think so, I mean, I'm being honest.
03:16She doesn't come across as, you know, she's not kuchikwing.
03:20She's not a typical, I mean, you see girls really liking kids.
03:23But I was quite surprised and pleasantly surprised that she's an absolutely wonderful mother.
03:28And she's the kind of mother which, I guess, kids with my kind of father need to have.
03:35She provides that stability.
03:37Yeah, she makes it sensible, simple and specifically one word, very middle class.
03:41You think those are her values she hasn't left behind?
03:44Yeah, I think she hasn't changed at all from what I've known her.
03:47I may have slipped or changed a little for better or worse.
03:51But she's exactly been the kind of person she always has been for years.
03:55Very middle class, very simple, very straightforward, very honest.
03:58And doesn't really, and I think highly intelligent in her own different sort of a way.
04:04And her intelligence lies in the fact that she's a silent observer of a lot of things.
04:09And I do feel at times that I take advantage of it.
04:13And do things which I feel, okay, she doesn't know or doesn't mind.
04:19But the niceness is that even if she minds...
04:22And what are you hinting at?
04:23No, no.
04:25It would be right to say, as I introduced her earlier, that she is probably the most stabilizing factor in your life.
04:31Which I believe is.
04:32I mean, she is the only factor in my life.
