00:00Hi! How are you? I'm great, how are you? Good, good to see you, please come in.
00:15Hello! Oh wow! It's my sister. Hi, how are you? So much star power in the house right now, wow.
00:21Guys, this is the first time I'm interviewing two people at the same time. Oh really?
00:25So I'm kind of nervous, please give me all the slack that you can give. Okay, we're really sarcastic.
00:30Just a warning. Love it. You guys have a beautiful house. Thank you. When did you guys shift here?
00:36It's been maybe 2000 and I want to say 10. We were making it for a long time actually.
00:44Budget issues at that point. At that point, yeah. So we had slowly, slowly, slowly we were...
00:52And it's our parents' home actually. It's their baby, you know, my dad put a lot of...
01:00My dad's a builder, so he made it all by himself actually. He designed it and made it by himself.
01:05So what's happening with this? This is quite the statement piece, this painting over here.
01:08What's the story behind this? So this is my mom, basically. Everything, all the paintings in the house are my mom.
01:14And she loves, so this is from a very, there's a very big artist here called Aziz.
01:19And after MF Hussain, he's one of those who makes really good horses.
01:23And apparently having running horses in a house is really good energy, is what I'm told.
01:28Which it looks like it is. Yeah, of course. And this, I really like this chessboard, it's so cute.
01:35You guys play chess? No. But every time we have guests, and they come and sit here, they end up starting.
01:42So this is actually from Uzbekistan. So everywhere we used to go, we used to sort of like pick up small, small things.
01:48Yeah, my mom used to do that. And then we put the whole house together.
01:51So Sania, you also have a house in Dubai, is that true? We do, yes.
01:55So I kind of live half and half, I live out of here in Dubai. Dubai, because during the year, it's a lot easier to communicate with,
02:02and you know, with airlines, it's just so much easier, it's like a halfway spot.
02:08So when do you usually bless the nation with your presence? Oh, every couple of months, I'm here all the time.
02:12Now it's not, I mean, living in Dubai is like living in another city in India, right? It's like a couple hour flight.
02:19So no, my husband and I and my son just started nursery there as well. Where is that cutie? Are we seeing him today?
02:25He's in a very bad mood. So I think it's better that we don't see him.
02:30For the people who don't know Izaan, he is an Instagram influencer himself. He has 100,000 followers, is that true?
02:37Yeah, Izaan makes way more money than I do. And he's three, by the way. So you manage his Instagram account?
02:43I do actually. So the day that he was born, literally the day he was born, I went on Instagram, you know,
02:51because I was on Instagram for 24 hours doing my labor. So I went on Instagram, I was like, oh, okay.
02:57And when I went, I saw about maybe 10 pages of like fan pages of a boy who was just born.
03:05And I kind of got a little freaked out because it was actually, it was a bit weird.
03:10So I decided that, you know, whenever we do show his face, which we did after a few months,
03:14because, you know, we had some other issues and all that, like with the older people.
03:18So we just decided that, that we'll get a verified account for him because just so that it's a little bit more control
03:25and people know, okay, this is it. Because it was a bit weird because everybody was like,
03:28this is the official Izaan Mirza Malik account. And there was like 25 of them when he was two months old.
03:34So it was a bit...
03:35So let's talk about like you guys' childhood. You guys both grew up in Hyderabad?
03:39Yeah.
03:40Did you guys go to the same school?
03:41Yeah, she didn't go to school that much. I went all the time. But yeah, we did end up going to the same school.
03:47So did you have like a chip on your shoulder knowing that your elder sister was in school?
03:51A little bit, I guess.
03:54We've had generations going to the same school actually, like my aunt, a lot of my cousins,
03:59and then I went and then she went and then our nieces went to the same school.
04:02And to be honest, like any girl who's from Nasir has a chip on her shoulder that we are from Saniya Mirza's school.
04:08So I was her sister, so I guess I did.
04:12So how was growing up? Like, was it a strict household or what were your parents like?
04:16I think they were different with me and different with her. So I think we'll have different experience.
04:20She doesn't agree. I saw the eyes there.
04:22So when I was like 17, 18, 19, obviously I was going through my teenage years of like deadlines and fighting for them and stuff.
04:30And then when she came along, she had all the same deadlines that I had 19 and 12, you know,
04:34because I had fought all the battles.
04:38Eight years later. So like the deadline for a normal girl 17, 18, fairly 10 o'clock was fine.
04:44But now it was eight years later. So even one was like, it's like too early.
04:50So how are you with Izaan? Are you like strict with him?
04:54You know, honestly, I'm starting to get a little bit strict with him because as a boy,
04:59so we've not had any experience of boys. We come from a household of two girls and, you know,
05:05and my parents keep saying, you guys never did this what he's doing.
05:08Like he's like randomly like doing cartwheels and you never did this.
05:12You should just play with your babis, you know?
05:16So no, I mean, I am a little bit strict with him, especially I think now he's at a stage where
05:21first of all, he's the favorite grandchild of both sides. He's extremely, extremely pampered.
05:28So there has to be one person who's strict. So I'm that bad cop.
05:31So I'm guessing you're the strict one and you are spoiling Izaan.
05:34That's what I get from your vlogs at least. Is that the dynamic? You like to spoil him?
05:38Yeah, but the thing is like I could do thousands of nice things to him.
05:43But the second his mom appears, he forgets me.
05:46I'm not that strict with him. But I mean, there has to be some discipline.
05:50So as a boy, he's very naughty and he's very spoiled. So I've got my, yeah.
05:58So I've just come to Hyderabad. I'm here for like two more days.
06:01What should I be eating? What am I, where should I be going?
06:05Home cooked biryani.
06:07Okay, so is this a formal invitation for lunch?
06:10Sure. Okay, so let's talk a little bit about fashion.
06:14So how did you get into fashion?
06:16I don't know. Actually, I was never fond of fashion like all through my school life and stuff.
06:21I remember like at one point I was appearing for my law entrance and I was like, you know,
06:26I'm going to write my NIFT entrance anyway. And I randomly got through that exam.
06:30And I was like, what? How did I get through it? I never took it seriously.
06:35And then I went and did my BA in Journalism and PR.
06:38But slowly I, you know, I started doing things that were around fashion and it came very naturally to me.
06:44And then I realized that I was very inclined towards it.
06:46So are you styling your sister? Because I see both of you with the Jordans.
06:49Are you inspired by your sister?
06:51Yeah, I am. Actually, she was the one in the family who kind of got into Jordans first.
06:55And then, yeah, and then now I'm a little bit into it. She's got more pairs than I have.
06:59Do you collect?
07:00Yes, but I haven't reached that phase where I'm like collecting collaborations and stuff.
07:05I'm still on my basic level. My husband was just complaining to her yesterday.
07:10She bought 20 shoes this year.
07:1220 shoes? Wow.
07:13He was really not happy.
07:16So next, guys, I'd love to do who's more likely to segment.
07:20Okay, so I'm going to ask you a bunch of questions.
07:22And if you feel like it's Anam, then you say Anam.
07:24If you feel like you're the answer, you just say me.
07:26All right.
07:27Okay, you guys ready?
07:30Who's the favorite child?
07:32Definitely you.
07:33Actually...
07:34She's not even denying it.
07:37She's my mom's favorite and I'm my dad's favorite.
07:41And we both kind of know that.
07:42Right. Fair enough. Okay.
07:43I agree.
07:44Who shops more?
07:46Me.
07:47This year, her.
07:48Okay.
07:49Since I've had a kid, her.
07:50Who's more likely to gossip?
07:53Rubbish.
07:54Rubbish.
07:56She knows everything about everything.
07:58Is it? Okay.
08:00Who spends more time on Instagram?
08:02Me.
08:04Who takes more selfies?
08:06I guess me.
08:07Everything is just Anam at this point.
08:09Who eats all the leftover ice cream from the fridge?
08:12Me.
08:13Guys, come on. Okay.
08:15Who has a better fashion sense?
08:17Me.
08:18Now it just seems scripted at this point.
08:21Who borrows most clothes?
08:22Me.
08:25Is that all you got?
08:26I have one more question and I'm hoping Sanya comes through.
08:29Who likes the host of this show more?
08:32I think them.
08:35Okay.
08:36Cut that. Cut that question from the edit.
08:39So guys, you know there's this trend on Instagram.
08:41Oh, your XYZ accent is so sexy.
08:44So, I'm going to give you some English phrases.
08:46Could you guys say it in Hyderabadi?
08:49Wow. Okay, we'll try.
08:50We'll try. Yeah, okay.
08:51First one is, your outfit is lit.
08:55How would you say that?
08:56Angaar hai aapka outfit.
08:58Kya lighta maare?
09:00Woah, woah, woah, woah.
09:02What's the final answer?
09:03Don't ask me, I don't know.
09:04They both mean the same thing.
09:05Kya lighta maare?
09:07Kya lighta?
09:08Lighta is like lights.
09:09Basically in Hyderabadi, for everybody that doesn't know,
09:12people just put A and O after everything.
09:16So there's no A.
09:17Like you're singing almost.
09:18There's no plural.
09:19That's the plural of anything.
09:22So, aadmi is aadmiya.
09:25Aurat is aurta.
09:26Hum log is humla.
09:30Fine, so then, don't beat around the bush.
09:34Like no nonsense, no excuses.
09:35Baigan ke baata matko karo.
09:38Slow it down guys.
09:39Yeah, I guess that could go.
09:41Baigan ke baata matko karo.
09:45He's like, yeah, whatever.
09:46That makes no sense to me.
09:49I have taken a bath.
09:51Paani naha ke aaye.
09:53Like taking a bath?
09:54Yeah, I've taken a bath.
09:55Paani.
09:56I showered.
09:57Paani naha ke aaro.
09:58I see.
09:59We were just like having this conversation about that with my brother and dad the other day.
10:02Right.
10:03And he finds it so funny because we were just like,
10:04aunty ki main aapne paani naha ke aate ho.
10:06Right.
10:07He's Punjabi, proper Urdu speaking and Punjabi speaking.
10:11He finds us crazy when we talk like this.
10:13He's like, what else are you going to do?
10:15Bath with, like bathe with instead of water.
10:17But in Hyderabad everybody says, paani naha ke naha toh.
10:19So both of you are actually married to cricketers.
10:21Yes.
10:22So give us some insight on what does that life look like?
10:24Yeah.
10:25It's boring as hell.
10:28It's like any other marriage guys.
10:31Like, no, I mean on a serious note it is, for me especially, I mean she's into a different profession.
10:37But like for me it's great because we both understand the pressures and everything that goes,
10:41go with what we do, which is a very highly charged, emotionally charged,
10:46high pressure job that we do on a day.
10:48Like he's actually playing a match right now as we play and as we're speaking.
10:52And I think that many times like we have good days and bad days.
10:56And I think we both understand that.
10:59So that really works.
11:00That dynamic is really, really good.
11:02So there's like a lot of, would you say it's like long distance?
11:04Would you consider it?
11:05It used to be more before I had Izhan.
11:08You know, I have slowed down a little bit.
11:10Obviously, I'm not playing like 30 weeks a year anymore.
11:13I play like 15 weeks.
11:15So yeah, but it's still pretty long distance.
11:18I mean, we don't see each other as much as any other regular.
11:22They are like completely opposite to us.
11:24They spend like every day together.
11:26I don't understand.
11:28She's like, yeah.
11:30I don't understand it.
11:31Like the other day I went to watch his match and then he was calling my sister and
11:35complaining saying she came to watch a match and now she's telling you how to play cricket.
11:39He was upset because I was like, why did you step out?
11:44So we're the opposite.
11:45Guys, quickly zoom into the candy behind her.
11:47Guys, just get a quick zoom in there.
11:49Sanyam is just diet exposed.
11:51Not me.
11:52Okay.
11:53Promise you.
11:54Blame it on Izhan.
11:55No, no, no, no, no.
11:56It's not candy.
11:57It's like Hajmola, which she's ordered yesterday.
11:59I don't know why she ordered like a one kilo of Hajmola.
12:02So you're in fashion.
12:04You're a tennis icon.
12:06What would be another career path?
12:08If it wasn't tennis or fashion, what would you guys be doing?
12:10Mine would be interior designing.
12:13I love it.
12:14I actually wanted to be.
12:16I may be after I retire.
12:18Yeah, I've done up my house in Dubai.
12:20I still don't have the guts to do other people's houses.
12:22So I just like set up my own.
12:25Yeah.
12:26So now they're just moving, you know, hopefully into a new house.
12:28So she was like, come to Hyderabad.
12:30You know, you need to see the house.
12:32You're coming for two days.
12:33Just do it up in two days.
12:35It's like a 10,000 square feet house.
12:38It's going to be a little hard.
12:41Yeah, but no, I like it.
12:42I like colors and I like, yeah, I like, I like creating new things in a house.
12:48I find that space really, really nice and warm.
12:51And what about you?
12:52I think I'd be in your spot.
12:54I'd love to meet your people.
12:56He's like, what?
12:58What's wrong with you?
13:00Trust me, Izan makes more money than I do.
13:02I promise you.
13:03So on that, on that, I heard you have a really cool closet.
13:06Yeah, I do.
13:07Could we check it out?
13:08So it's like one of mine because now I stay in my husband's house.
13:12My husband's house.
13:14Our house.
13:16This is like in my office.
13:18This was built for other reasons, but it eventually turned into my office.
13:21So it's different.
13:23So can we go check it out?
13:24Yep.
13:25Let's go.
13:26So this is your backyard.
13:28Yes, it's one of our backyards.
13:30And shockingly, I have a tennis court in my backyard.
13:33Who would have guessed?
13:34Who would have guessed?
13:35Is this where you're hitting your 200 kilometer serves?
13:37Sometimes, sometimes.
13:39Yeah, we do have, we have an academy called Tanya Mirza Tennis Academy.
13:43So we get a lot of young kids who come and play here.
13:46And we have another one, which is...
13:48Oh, coaching happens here?
13:49Yeah, just little kids under seven.
13:51Okay.
13:52Mostly.
13:53And then we have another one in, which is a little bit outside of this.
13:56Is Izan whipping those forehands yet?
13:57Not at all.
13:58So he wanted to play tennis.
13:59And then since he watched his dad play, he's like, I don't want to play tennis.
14:03I want to go to cricket.
14:04No loyalty with Izan.
14:05No, he's playing cricket with a tennis racket.
14:09He's playing cricket with a tennis racket.
14:12Anything.
14:13And a football.
14:14And a football, like a small football is the ball.
14:16And what, have you ever tried tennis?
14:18No, but we have a lot of parties in this court.
14:20Over here.
14:21When she's not there in the night.
14:22That's all they do.
14:23So I actually, I play the ITAS circuit currently.
14:26Yeah, yeah.
14:27Wow.
14:28So you're making enough money then.
14:30Whoa, no.
14:31She would know I'm not.
14:32She would know I'm not.
14:33Oh, I feel bad for you.
14:34Yeah, thank you.
14:37So now we're heading to your office or what is this?
14:39It's basically an office.
14:41Our office comes first.
14:43So you can overlook one side, like her office, which is the tennis court.
14:46Yeah.
14:47We have like a nice wardrobe, but we can show you.
14:49Cool, cool.
14:50Come, let's come.
14:51Please.
14:52It may be like a little messy.
14:53Messy, right.
14:54Because we're getting ready and stuff here.
14:55And we have like a photo shoot now.
14:57Okay.
14:58So it's all over the place, but let's see.
15:00Let's do it.
15:03So these are just some shoes.
15:06Just a few.
15:07500 sneakers.
15:08That's all.
15:09Nothing much.
15:10No, none of my like sneakers are here.
15:11These are all like stuff we use for shoots and stuff.
15:13Okay.
15:14So we just leave it there.
15:15Cool.
15:16And this mess is here because we were getting ready here in the office.
15:20For your, and this is her wardrobe.
15:23Oh my god.
15:24You can go there and I will sit here.
15:26All right.
15:27You can go with her.
15:28A walk-in closet.
15:30Wow.
15:31Yeah.
15:32Talk to us.
15:33Tell us, Anam.
15:34Oh no, it's messy.
15:35I think we're way past that now.
15:37We've seen the desk.
15:38Talk to us about this.
15:39Yeah.
15:40This is actually one of my wardrobes.
15:42It has like a lot of my Indian wear and stuff that I don't wear on a usual day.
15:47Like usually I keep everything here.
15:49So everything is kind of heavy.
15:51So every time I need like heavy clothes, I come here.
15:53You come here.
15:54Okay.
15:55And then we have like a lot of stuff because we are into like our whole social media management
15:59and stuff.
16:01We have like a lot of stuff we use for shoots and stuff.
16:03So we leave everything.
16:05That's nice.
16:06Yeah.
16:07So I love meeting fashion people because my next question is, rate my outfit.
16:12Out of 10?
16:13Yes.
16:15Five?
16:17Okay.
16:18So we're cutting that out as well.
16:21Okay.
16:22You know what?
16:23I'm leaving, Anam.
16:24I've had enough of this.
16:25So that was the dynamic.
16:28So he's finally leaving.
16:30Finally.
16:31Really?
16:32Why are you so happy?
16:34He's dancing.
16:36You've been so kind as to invite us over.
16:38Show us to your one of six closets perhaps.
16:41I've had so much fun.
16:43Thank you for doing this.
16:45Thanks for having us.
16:46Bye guys.
16:47Bye.
16:48See you.
16:49Bye.
16:50Bye.
16:51He's gone.
