00:00I have three S's, so it means Serena, sure, and strong.
00:03We were able to break the mold in a sport that was just really dominated by white people
00:19and to have a base of color that can come in and do the same and dominate, let people
00:25know that it doesn't matter what your background is and where you come from, if you have dreams
00:30and you have goals, and that's all that really matters.
00:36I really think a champion is defined not by their wins, but how they can recover when
00:42they fall, and I've fallen several times, and each time I just get up and I dust myself
00:47off and I pray and I'm able to do better or I'm able to get back to the level that I want
00:53to be on, and so I feel really awesome that I have been able to do that and that I can
00:59do that and I have done that, and I think, for me, you see great people, like Muhammad
01:06Ali, for instance, is a complete person that I really have always looked up to in sports,
01:11so he went to jail for so long and he came back as a champion again.
01:20Especially us, women of color, we really have to support each other, because I always
01:26like to say that women really should support each other, because the success of one woman
01:31should be the inspiration to the next, and if we look at it that way, there will be so
01:35much more that we can accomplish.
01:41Being a mom is something incredibly special and I've embarked on a really good journey
01:46and it's probably the best journey of my life and I love it so much, you know, it's
01:54pretty awesome.
01:55I love playing tennis, I love, mostly I love being a full-time mom, I love, I've been with
02:01her every day of her life, I haven't missed a day, and I love that she gives me that love
02:07back, I love when I walk in the room and she's with her dad, she runs to me, it makes me
02:14feel really good, which is sad, but I am a competitor at heart, so.
02:25One in four women are affected by domestic violence, and of that, 99% are actually affected
02:31by financial abuse, which I think is super important to point out, and these numbers
02:37are insane and completely staggering, and it's important to bring awareness to it.
02:41As a mother of a daughter, for me, this means even more to me, this could be something that
02:47my daughter could face, and that's not cool, I don't want her to be a part of that awful
02:52statistic of 99% of women that are going through financial abuse.
02:56I think expanding the conversation to men and expanding the conversation to young boys
03:03is so important, to let them know that women and people, this is a human rights issue,
03:09we should all be treated the same, we should be treated equal.
03:12With domestic abuse, it doesn't care what color you are, what background you're from,
03:17it can affect all women of any, however they look.
