00:00As Prime Minister Modi conveyed to President Putin in Samarkand in September, this is not
00:06an era of war.
00:07India again reaffirmed that it stands against this war, that it wants to see dialogue, it
00:15wants to see diplomacy, it wants to see an end to this needless bloodshed.
00:30It is natural that as foreign ministers we exchange views on the international situation
00:59from our particular perspectives and vantage points.
01:02Obviously, the Ukraine conflict was a dominant feature, although we will continue to have
01:08discussions on it.
01:09Let me take this opportunity to lay out the Indian position on this matter.
01:15As Prime Minister Modi conveyed to President Putin in Samarkand in September, this is not
01:21an era of war.
01:23The global economy is simply too interdependent for a significant conflict anywhere, not to
01:30have major consequences elsewhere.
01:33We are seeing growing concerns on energy and food security emanate from the conflict that
01:39are coming on top of severe stresses created by two years of COVID.
01:44The global south especially is feeling this pain very acutely.
01:49India therefore strongly advocates a return to dialogue and diplomacy.
01:56We are clearly on the side of peace, respect for international law and support for the
02:01UN Charter.
02:03Insofar as specific initiatives pertaining to issues like food grains and fertilizer
02:08shipments are concerned, or any other problem for that matter, India will be as helpful
02:14as we can be.
02:23The messages we heard from Foreign Minister Jaishankar in Russia were not dissimilar in
02:31some ways from what we heard from Prime Minister Modi at the UN when he made very clear that
02:36this is not an era of war.
02:39India again reaffirmed that it stands against this war, that it wants to see dialogue, it
02:47wants to see diplomacy, it wants to see an end to this needless bloodshed that Russia
02:53is responsible for inside of Ukraine.
02:56It's important that the Russians hear that message from countries around the world.
03:00It's especially important that the Russians hear that message from countries like India.
