Jemimah Rodrigues is an impressive cricketing voice too. Her sterling half-century helped India win a tight contest with Pakistan in the Women's T20 World Cup on Sunday.

00:00I remember even watching the MCG match where Virat Kohli played such an extraordinary knock.
00:04This time last year where I was at home and I was not in a good headspace because I was dropped
00:08from the 50 over World Cup. That was the most toughest time for me. I am a strong believer
00:12in Jesus. I knew if he's brought me so far, he won't let me down here.
00:30So yeah, it was exactly this time last year where I was at home and I was not in a good
00:45headspace because I was dropped from the 50 over World Cup. That was the most toughest
00:48time for me. But if it was not for my family and my parents and my brothers and you know,
00:54there are so many people, if I go to name them, you know, we'll sit here till 12 o'clock in the
00:58but there were so many people who helped me throughout this time. My coach Prashant
01:01Shetty also. I mean, we worked really hard during that time and I remember that like I was not okay
01:08mentally. I had taken a break because cricket is something I love. Playing for India is something
01:13I love to do. I love to play and the World Cup is a dream for every cricketer and missing out on that
01:20it took me a while but I just think God just gave me the grace each and every day to push it through.
01:26I remember sometimes weeks used to be so hard because we had two months there. So every day
01:30felt so long. Those two months didn't get over. It was like that, you know, but what I used to do
01:35was every Sunday I should treat myself, you know, like go for a drive or give myself a coffee saying
01:41well done on this week. There were so many times I'd given up, you know, I didn't have the strength
01:45to carry and I know a lot of people say you need to back yourself. You need to motivate yourself.
01:49But when a person is going through, they only know what they're going through. But I am a strong
01:53believer in Jesus. I knew if he's brought me so far he won't let me down here, you know. I mean
01:58it's just a small phase of the bigger picture he has and that time actually changed me completely.
02:03I changed the way I practiced. I changed the way I planned my innings and, you know, I understood
02:08my game better. I understood the value of good relationships at that time and at the same time
02:17it felt like that was one of the lowest phases of my life but it turned out to be the reason why
02:22I could come here today. I am someone who really gets pumped up when this crowd is cheering
02:27and I like to take in their energy and, you know, so many times it's their energy that,
02:31you know, spreads inside the camp and, you know, hit a boundary. Everyone's cheering.
02:35It just lifts you up. It pushes you. So I think we are very grateful that we get a sport where,
02:39you know, people are allowed to make noise and also so many spectators are allowed to be over
02:42here. So I think that just pushes and I'm grateful for and thankful to everyone who turned up and
02:47showed out over here in Cape Town and supported us. India versus Pakistan, there's always a little
02:51more added pressure. We even spoke about it in the team meeting. You know, growing up also,
02:56we've always watched these matches and watched it so close. I remember even watching the
03:00MCG match where Virat Kohli played such an extraordinary knock. So, you know,
03:05more than, we didn't focus a lot actually. We spoke about it. We were honest. We shared
03:10our experiences in the Haridhi and Sir and Smriti and all but then we just wanted to go out there
03:15and play and get the first win on board. We didn't, it didn't matter even if today was West
03:19Indies or another team, we'd still play the same cricket. We'd still
03:22have the same intensity and we'd still have the same approach.
