00:00The creator of the failed Fyre Festival just announced that a sequel is coming. In 2017,
00:05the creator Billy McFarlane and rapper Ja Rule sold over 5,000 tickets to a two-week luxury music
00:10festival on a private beach in the Bahamas. They enlisted the help of Kendall Jenner,
00:15Emily Ratajkowski, and Hailey Bieber to promote the event. But when attendees arrived in the
00:19Bahamas, hundreds were left stranded without adequate food, water, or shelter. Many of the
00:24scheduled performers such as Blink-182, Pusha T, and Lil Yachty had dropped out just days before
00:29the event. It was also later revealed that the Bahamian locals who constructed the festival and
00:33catered the food were not paid for their work. In 2018, McFarlane was sentenced to 6 years in
00:38prison for wire fraud charges and ordered to forfeit $26 million, though it was released
00:43early in 2022, and two documentaries have since been made about the disastrous event.
00:48Further details about Fyre Festival 2.0 are still under wraps,
00:51but hopefully the sandwiches are at least better this time around.
