00:00Balenciaga is now suing the production company and set designer behind their recent controversial
00:04campaign.
00:05The lawsuit is specifically referring to this image, which shows paperwork from the 2008
00:09Supreme Court ruling United States v. Williams, a case concerning child pornography.
00:14For its Spring 2023 campaign, Balenciaga hired North 6 to produce the ad and Nicolas Desjardins
00:18to design a set that was meant to mimic an office space.
00:21The lawsuit claims Balenciaga had no knowledge of and did not authorize the inclusion of
00:25this particular piece of paperwork, saying the documents turned out to be real legal
00:28papers most likely coming from the filming of a television drama.
00:31Nicolas Desjardins' attorney told CNN that representatives from Balenciaga were present
00:35at the shoot overseeing it and handling papers and props, and Desjardins as a set designer
00:40was not responsible for image selection from the shoot.
00:43A North 6 representative said the company did not have creative input or control over
00:46the shoot and was not on set during the final set arrangements.
00:50As for the teddy bear images, which also drew backlash, Balenciaga said our plush bear bags
00:54and gift collection should not have been featured with children.
00:57The responsibility for this lies with Balenciaga alone.
