00:00It was recently reported that government records from President Joe Biden's time as Vice President
00:04were found at one of his former private office spaces in Washington.
00:07I was briefed about this discovery and surprised to learn
00:10that there were any government records that were taken there to that office.
00:16Many Republicans have been quick to compare this to the classified documents that were
00:19hoarded by former President Donald Trump and later seized at Mar-a-Lago. However,
00:23there are a couple clear distinctions. First of all, there were only 10 documents found in
00:27Biden's office. Trump was holding over 300. Some of Biden's have been classified as top secret,
00:32as were 60 of Trump's. Secondly, once discovered, Biden said that his attorneys immediately turned
00:37the documents over to the National Archives. Trump, however, obstructed their handover and
00:41refused to return them to the agency upon request. He even asserted ownership over
00:45the government documents and outlandishly claimed to have declassified them.
00:49The documents found in Biden's office are now being reviewed by a US attorney,
00:52but Biden will likely face the same questions Trump did. Was he entitled to these documents?
00:56Were they stored properly? And why did he even have them?
