00:00Oh, what did I study in college? Harry Styles! Starting next year at Texas State University,
00:06students will be able to enroll in Harry Styles and the Cult of Celebrity, Identity,
00:10the Internet, and European Pop Culture. The course will look at, quote,
00:13Harry Styles and popular European culture to understand the development of the modern celebrity.
00:19Various subtopics will also be explored including gender and sexuality, race, media, fashion,
00:24internet culture, and more. The singer has often opened up about gender fluidity and expressing
00:29oneself through fashion. In 2020, he became the first man to land a solo cover of Vogue magazine,
00:34gracing the December issue in a Gucci gown. But this is not the first time that a celebrity has
00:38been the focus of a college course. In 2016, the University of Texas at San Antonio introduced
00:44Black Women and Beyonce, an English class that evaluated her album Lemonade. In 2018,
00:49UC Berkeley created Brain Like Berkeley, which explored the artistry and influence of Frank
00:53Ocean.
