00:00HBO's Secession is entering its final season, but we need to talk about a real-life secession battle
00:05that is set to take place within one of the world's richest families. While Secession creator
00:09Jesse Armstrong has said the fictional Roy family isn't representative of any particular family,
00:14there is a real-life secession story currently playing out. Bernard Arnold is the co-founder
00:18and CEO of LVMH, the world's largest luxury goods conglomerate. Arnold also happens to be the world's
00:24wealthiest person with a 196 billion dollar fortune. At 73, many have speculated what
00:29secession plans will look like for Europe's most valuable company. The Arnold family consists of
00:34four sons and one daughter, each with key roles in LVMH. Earlier this year, eldest child Delphine
00:39Arnold was appointed the CEO of Dior. One month after this, second eldest child Antoine was
00:44appointed CEO of LVMH's holding company. Some interpreted this as the beginning of a secession
00:49battle within LVMH. However, Bernard Arnold has no intention to step down anytime soon.
00:55Last year, he raised the age limit for his role to 80.
