Transcript
00:00The US Navy has released photos of the 1.1 ton, 200 foot tall Chinese surveillance balloon that
00:05was shot down over the weekend. A team from Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group 2 recovered
00:10debris from the balloon on February 5th, off the coast of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The
00:14remainder was scattered over a wide area of seabed, and dive teams are working to recover
00:18the pieces for intelligence purposes. On February 4th, at the direction of President Joe Biden,
00:23and with the support of the government of Canada, a US fighter aircraft brought down
00:26the high altitude surveillance balloon, which officials believe was sent by China to spy on
00:30sensitive sites across the United States. The balloon flew roughly 12 miles above the US,
00:35and has a debris field of approximately 1,500 square meters, or the equivalent of 15 football
00:40fields. Its height was roughly the size of two hot air balloons, and weight equivalent
00:44to a regional airliner.
