00:00That's how three people reacted after being arrested as a part of Ron DeSantis' crackdown
00:13on voter fraud.
00:14So why are the arrests causing confusion?
00:16Fruit can explain in less than 60 seconds.
00:18A total of 20 people were arrested as a part of the state's new Office of Election Crimes
00:23and Securities Investigations, and they now face up to five years in prison.
00:27It all comes back to a 2018 Florida constitutional amendment, which gave many felons the right
00:32to vote, but excluded those convicted of murders or felony sex offenses.
00:36That change, however, led to a lot of confusion.
00:39For instance, the woman in the video was able to register to vote and even received a voter
00:43ID card.
00:44And one man claims that he was encouraged by a DMV worker to register to vote even after
00:49disclosing he was a convicted felon.
00:51Prosecutors will have to prove in court that these voters willfully committed the crime.
