00:00A man has been arrested for allegedly pointing a laser at a Nashville Police helicopter that was trying to break up an illegal street racing event.
00:06This is where the street races are now.
00:09We're going to get down low and try to scatter them out.
00:12The helicopter hovered over the area and cars can be seen doing donuts and setting off fireworks in a parking lot.
00:18We got this group dispersed, but in the meantime they
00:22shot mortars up at us and hit us with a laser. We're trying to locate who was just lazing us.
00:29They located the car and followed it as someone inside continued to point a laser at the helicopter.
00:35Eventually police on the ground caught up with the car and the suspect 21 year old Jacob Derryberry faces two counts of aggravated assault on
00:42the flight crew and one count of contributing to the delinquency of minors.
00:46In a tweet the Metro Nashville Police Department warned that directing a laser toward any flying aircraft is dangerous and can impair the pilot's vision.
