00:00A 26-year-old man was just charged with the attempted murder of Supreme Court Justice Brett
00:04Kavanaugh. So how did we get here? Brute can explain in less than 90 seconds. A California
00:09man was detained by police just outside of Kavanaugh's home after he called authorities
00:13to report that he was having suicidal thoughts and wanted to kill one specific justice. When
00:18he was brought into custody, the man had both a gun and knife. According to a federal affidavit,
00:23the man was upset by the recent school shooting in Uvalde, Texas and the leaked draft opinion that
00:28would overturn Roe v. Wade. Although that affidavit did not say which Supreme Court Justice
00:33the man was targeting, he was detained near Kavanaugh's Maryland home. It's been reported
00:38that he was dressed in all black and carrying a suitcase and a backpack. And inside that suitcase
00:44and backpack, he had a black tactical chest rig and a tactical knife, along with a pistol,
00:49two magazines, ammunition, pepper spray, zip ties, a hammer, screwdriver, nail punch, crowbar,
00:55a pistol light, duct tape and other things. If the man is found guilty of attempted murder,
01:00he could spend up to 20 years in a federal prison. The leaked draft opinion has inspired protests
01:05outside many of the justices homes and has led to the passage of legislation
01:09that improves the security and protection of both judges and justices.
