00:00It started about two years ago and he was starting to move people in.
00:14Constant noise which was getting more and more intimidating.
00:28There would be paraphernalia of drug taking and you could smell certain substances being
00:33smoked within the house and it pervaded our property.
00:39People would come and go, slamming the doors consistently at all times during the night.
00:47And it sounds menial but it just wears you down.
00:51It just is constant and it becomes unbearable at times.
00:56Mental health wise, we were always living on the edge.
00:59We didn't know who we were going to open our door to and what we would find inside the
01:05communal area.
01:06My daughter refused to stay there on her own and she's an adult, it's her home, she should
01:13be allowed to have that place of sanctuary.
01:17Every day was the same but different in a way.
01:21There would always be something out of the ordinary, fighting, noise, shouting and when
01:30we started to find the needles it was just scary.
01:35I had a heart attack a number of years ago and I was getting fine but back in August
01:43it was just very stressful and I collapsed.
01:46The constant coming and going mentally was just a nightmare.
01:52I started to report it on 101.
01:55The team on the whole were very friendly.
01:58They made it easy.
01:59They put our minds at rest and reassured us and they were open to begin with about it
02:06can take a long time but we understood that the good result has to take time and to collect
02:11the evidence has to be done methodically.
02:14We got assigned a crime number and also an email link for the footage and any evidence
02:22which I used.
02:24I was doing it on, well I was doing it every few days but it was escalating to have to
02:31be done every day and in one instance there was about 43 interactions on our ring doorbell.
02:37I kept a chronological order as well written down in case we needed to have something else.
02:43Any questions, we just spoke to our local PCSO who made regular visits.
02:52We didn't want to be a nuisance in the first instance but sometimes your hand is pushed
02:57and you have to seek help and the police made it a very easy process.
03:02So I would say be patient, persevere and stand your ground.
03:08It's your home, it's your life and nobody else has the right to be able to influence
03:12that if you don't want them to.
03:15It has gone from a nightmare to being able to live our lives a little bit and relax of
03:20an evening and not be scared upon opening the door and seeing some drug addict or somebody
03:28who's threatening my wife or daughter so now, yeah, it's good, it's good.
