00:00State health insurer Philippine Health Insurance Corporation or PhilHealth has
00:04disbursed 137.6 billion pesos in benefit claims to over 12,000
00:10accredited health care facilities across the country from January to October.
00:15This is a 37.7% increase from the 99.9 billion pesos paid
00:22during the same period last year. The national average turnaround time for
00:26claims processing has improved to 25 days, 35 days faster than the 60-day
00:32limit claims are returned to hospitals due to discrepancies, incomplete or
00:38unreadable documents and incorrect claim forms. Claims may also be denied for late
00:43filing, non-compensable cases or issues with hospital accreditation during the
00:49confinement period. To reduce returned or denied claims, PhilHealth is engaging
00:54hospitals nationwide to educate them on updated claims policies, guidelines and
01:00requirements. The insurer is also conducting claims reconciliation
01:04validated by the presidents of PHA and PHAPI.
