A world only you can make. #MinecraftMovie trailer tomorrow.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures and starring Jason Momoa and Jack Black, “A Minecraft Movie,” directed by Jared Hess, is the first-ever big screen, live-action adaptation of Minecraft, the best-selling video game of all time.

The film also stars Emma Myers (“Wednesday”), Oscar nominee Danielle Brooks (“The Color Purple”), Sebastian Eugene Hansen (“Just Mercy, “Lisey’s Story”), with Jennifer Coolidge.

Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn’t just help you craft, it’s essential to one’s survival! Four misfits—Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers) and Dawn (Brooks)—find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they’ll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative…the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.

Oscar nominee Hess (“Ninety-Five Senses,” “Nacho Libre”) directed, with Roy Lee, Jon Berg, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Jason Momoa, Jill Messick, Torfi Frans Olafsson and Vu Bui producing, and Todd Hallowell, Kayleen Walters, Brian Mendoza, Jonathan Spaihts, Pete Chiappetta, Andrew Lary and Anthony Tittanegro executive producing.

The director’s creative team behind the camera includes BAFTA-nominated director of photography Enrique Chediak (“127 Hours,” “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts”), Oscar-winning production designer Grant Major (“The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King,” “The Meg”), editor James Thomas (“Pokémon: Detective Pikachu”, the “Borat” films), Oscar-winning VFX supervisor Dan Lemmon (“The Jungle Book,” “The Batman”), and costume designer Amanda Neale (“The Meg,” “What We Do in the Shadows”). Casting is by Rachel Tenner. The music supervisors are Gabe Hilfer and Karyn Rachtman, and the music is by Mark Mothersbaugh (“Thor: Ragnarok,” the “LEGO®” movies).

00:00We first started talking about making a movie over a decade ago.
00:06We really wanted to honor the world.
00:09It's super fun to see everything, all the details.
00:12And I can't wait to see it all come alive on the screen.
00:15It is an open world.
00:17As a kid playing Minecraft, it always felt so big.
00:21This game has been loved by millions all over the world for years now.
00:25Minecraft, it's coming to life!
00:29Alright, let's do it! And...
00:32Minecraft is full of opportunities for adventures.
00:35Each person's journey is different.
00:37When we were developing this into a film, we just thought,
00:40let's bring our fun story.
00:42It's very intentional that this movie is called a Minecraft movie
00:46as opposed to the Minecraft movie.
00:52A Minecraft movie takes place in the real world and the Minecraft universe.
00:58You see Steve wishing he was able to just do whatever he wants
01:01and let his imagination run wild.
01:05I play Garrett the Garbage Man Garrison.
01:08He has this history of being this great video gamer from the 80s
01:12and he's been holding on to that
01:14and he hasn't moved past that life when he was on top.
01:19He's a huge fan of Pink. He looks good.
01:21Right now he's definitely this burnout who got fame from a very young age.
01:25I don't think he's ever had a hug.
01:26So what about you? Are you on the lam?
01:28Henry is like basically the mother.
01:30The person who takes the vanilla game and tweaks it and adjusts it.
01:33He literally has to create to survive.
01:39Great. Now it's dark.
01:41All players have this experience of the first night.
01:44Very quickly the sun sets and things change dramatically.
01:48They really did not hold back.
01:50We have zombies. Oh, and the skeletons.
01:54And we shouldn't forget the most famous Minecraft mob, the Creeper.
02:00It's been really exciting taking things that are part of the community's lives
02:04and trying to adapt it.
02:06You're going to love how beautiful this world has become
02:09using all of the elements of the video game.
02:12Everything's cubic.
02:14So square trees, square fruit, square trunks, square grass, square flowers.
02:18The players had a big influence on the movie.
02:21We asked Mumbo Jumbo to help us.
02:23He wound up building quite a bit.
02:25This was something that I actually worked on with Jared.
02:27Cactuses being launched as the Minecraft player.
02:31We know how precious this is to a global gaming community.
02:35We're so excited to be able to share this.
02:37Minecraft is one of the biggest, beautiful worlds you can make.
02:40Yeah!
02:44This movie is a joyful celebration of everything about Minecraft and creativity.
02:50That's one of the great things about Minecraft.
02:53If you want to survive, you've got to be creative.
