00:00Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we're taking a look at the hardest items, weapons, armor,
00:13and other trinkets to unlock across each Legend of Zelda game.
00:18First, some ground rules.
00:19We aren't including either four swords game, since they give you items as you need them
00:24rather than have you unlock them.
00:26We also aren't including any pieces of heart or heart containers, as those aren't really
00:31items.
00:32And to be considered, it has to be something you can actually use, so that I don't have
00:37to talk about Hestu's gift for the thousandth time.
00:47One more thing before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe
00:52and ring the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:56Magical Sword, The Legend of Zelda In the original Legend of Zelda, the majority
01:08of items Link can earn are found in the game's dungeons, or purchased in shops.
01:13One you don't get this way, however, is the Magical Sword.
01:16In the game's first quest, Link can find an old man beneath a gravestone in the graveyard.
01:22Not that you'll be likely to find it early anyway, but he'll only give it to you if you
01:26have twelve or more hearts.
01:28The Magical Sword is the strongest sword in the game, dealing four times the damage of
01:32Link's base weapon.
01:34While getting it doesn't necessarily test your skill, and many have the method of finding
01:38it memorized by now, it was pretty obscure back in the day.
01:44The Hammer, Zelda II, The Adventure of Link In one of, if not the hardest game in the
01:58series, Death Mountain is one of its most frustrating sections, and it isn't even found
02:03that late in the game.
02:05This version of the locale seen in Zelda II is one gigantic maze with multiple entrances
02:11that lead to powerful enemies.
02:13It's a massive difficulty spike that helped earn the game its reputation, and something
02:18many players were unprepared for.
02:21Of course, if you make it through, not only do you get to see the rest of the game, but
02:24you also earn the Hammer, which can be used to break boulders blocking Link's path and,
02:32strangely, cut down trees in the overworld.
02:35The Final Bottle, The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past
02:45There are a few items in A Link to the Past whose method of getting them most players
02:50would never think of.
02:52The game's first three bottles are pretty easy to find, but its last one is a nuisance.
02:57You'll first have to get your sword tempered by rescuing the dwarven swordsmith's brother
03:01from the Dark World.
03:03Afterwards, back in the Dark World, where their shop would be, you'll find a locked
03:08chest that will follow you.
03:10You then have to make your way to the southwest corner of the map, through whatever enemies
03:14stand in your way, and making sure the chest can follow the path.
03:18At a certain point, Link must go back into the Light World to speak to a lone man by
03:23a sign who unlocks the chest to give you the bottle.
03:32Koholint Sword, The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening
03:42A lot of Zelda games have collectibles that, when you earn enough, you get a special reward.
03:48In Link's Awakening, there are secret seashells.
03:51If Link collects 20, he earns the Koholint Sword, much stronger than the one he starts
03:56the game with.
03:57While 20 shells may not sound like a lot, it is considering there are only 26 of them
04:04hidden across the island, many of which require certain items to reach.
04:08The 2019 remake increased the number of shells, having Link earn the sword after finding 40
04:13of the possible 50.
04:15But you also got a sensor to make finding them easier.
04:19In the original version, you just had to search for them.
04:31Big Goron Sword, The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
04:45Adult Link's trading quest from Ocarina of Time is another thing a lot of us have
04:49memorized now, given the popularity of the game.
04:53But trying to figure this out on a first playthrough without help?
04:57Good luck.
04:58It begins when the Kuko Lady in Kakariko Village gives Link an egg set to hatch.
05:03When it does, he uses it to wake Talon, which then gets him a blue Kuko that belonged to
05:08her brother, which you must return.
05:11Of course, knowing where to go from there is the tricky part.
05:15There are a few items like this in the sequence, as well as some that come with time limits,
05:19making things more difficult.
05:21At the end, you get the Big Goron Sword, a two-handed blade, and one of the strongest
05:26weapons Link has ever wielded.
05:36Fierce Deity's Mask, The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask
05:46This one may seem like a cop-out, but considering everything it takes to get Fierce Deity's
05:51Mask, it really is the only option.
05:54In Majora's Mask, there are a great many side quests Link can complete to help the
05:59citizens of Termina, and for a lot of them, his reward will be a mask.
06:04Some of these are easily earned, like listening to Guru Guru's story in the Clock Town
06:09Laundry Pool on the first or second night.
06:12Others are not so easily gained, though, like the Couple's Mask at the end of the exceptionally
06:17long, easy-to-screw-up Anju and Cafe quest.
06:21You can only earn the Fierce Deity's Mask at the end of the game by trading in 20 of
06:26the 24 masks.
06:28Needless to say, it's a lot of work, but undeniably worth it.
06:38The Master Sword, The Legend of Zelda Oracle of Seasons
06:42Surprisingly, the most famous sword in Zelda history is actually pretty tough to get in
06:56Oracle of Seasons.
06:57You can only get the Master Sword in a linked save, meaning you have to have already beaten
07:02its twin game, Oracle of Ages.
07:05But that's not all.
07:06You also have to complete a 12-item long trading sequence within Seasons.
07:12Back in Ages, Link can learn a secret from a specific Zora, which he must tell to King
07:17Zora in Seasons.
07:19You can either do the trading sequence or tell the secret to King Zora first, getting
07:23the Noble Sword, but you have to do both to get Link's iconic weapon.
07:33The Bomber's Ring, The Legend of Zelda Oracle of Ages
07:46Technically the Master Sword could count for both Oracle of Seasons and Ages, as it's
07:52basically earned the same way in both games.
07:54But I'd rather go through that convoluted process than try to get this stupid ring.
07:59The Bomber's Ring gives Link the ability to place down two bombs for the price of one,
08:03which is nice.
08:05The problem is that it can only be earned in the Goron Dance Hall Rhythm minigame, one
08:10of the most notoriously frustrating minigames in the series.
08:14Link must play the game in the past and on its hardest difficulty, Platinum.
08:19He has to get every movement right across multiple drawn out sequences to get a perfect
08:24score.
08:25Even still, there's only a small chance the magic ring he earns will be this one, so you
08:30might be putting yourself through pain for nothing.
08:40Hero's Charm, The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker
08:53In the original version of Wind Waker, the Hero's Charm, which shows enemy health bars
08:57when worn, is earned simply by giving Mrs. Marie 40 Joy Pendants.
09:02It'll take some time, but since those are pretty common, it won't be that hard.
09:06However, in the HD version, this item's location was changed to appear at the end of the Savage
09:11Labyrinth, a 50-floor combat dungeon.
09:14You'll have to complete 30 floors for the story's Triforce quest, but the next 20 understandably
09:20ramp up in difficulty.
09:22Enemies don't drop items, though you can use the grappling hook to steal things, and every
09:26tenth floor lets you heal.
09:28Although there are a lot of enemies to get through, it's still manageable, unless you
09:32go in with your bottles and pockets empty.
09:42Mirror Shield, The Legend of Zelda The Minish Cap
09:52In The Minish Cap, we were introduced to Ken Stones, objects that could be fused with those
09:57who held their other half, which opened up secret areas and earned Link rewards.
10:02The Mirror Shield is earned in such a way, but it isn't so simple to find.
10:06If Link has the proper piece, he can fuse with a farmer in Eastern Hills.
10:11This causes a Goron to open up a cave and start digging, but he'll need help to make
10:15it further.
10:16You then have to find 5 walls in other caves across the game, which can be fused with,
10:22to get more Gorons to join him.
10:24The last empty bottle lies at the end of the cave, but fusing with the final Goron causes
10:29Big Goron to appear in Veil Falls.
10:32Giving him your regular shield, he'll turn it into the prize after 20 minutes, though
10:36only if you've already beaten the game.
10:48Giant Wallet, The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
11:00Zelda really likes to make you scour its worlds.
11:04In Twilight Princess, Agatha in Hyrule Castle Town will give you monetary rewards for each
11:09golden bug you bring her.
11:11But if you want the Giant Wallet, which can hold up to 1,000 rupees, you have to find
11:16all 24 of them.
11:18While they do give off a slight shimmering sound when you're near one, they're still
11:22pretty small bugs in a pretty big game.
11:25The HD version made getting this a little harder depending on how you look at it.
11:30The Wolf Link amiibo unlocked the Cave of Shadows combat dungeon, and doing one of these
11:34activities earned you the Giant Wallet while doing the other unlocked the even larger Colossal
11:40Wallet.
11:45Big Catch Lure, The Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass
11:57Fishing in Phantom Hourglass can be a bit tricky, so long as you're trying to catch
12:01every type of fish.
12:03In order to unlock the activity, Link must first complete a side quest on Bannon Island,
12:08introducing the old wayfarer to the fake mermaid Joanne.
12:12But to get the Big Catch Lure from him, you must first catch a Luvar.
12:17The only problem is that it's much more rare than the other fish you can catch.
12:21Of course, once you get the lure, this fish becomes much more common.
12:25And you have to catch even rarer fish to complete this side quest and get a Heart Container.
12:30But we said we weren't including those, so moving on.
12:41Swordsman Scrolls, The Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks
12:53There are two Swordsman Scrolls to collect in Spirit Tracks, but they're both kind
12:57of a pain to get.
12:59The first is given to Link by Nico for finding all 20 Stamp Stations across the world, and
13:04lets him perform the Great Spin attack.
13:07Some of these are easy to find, but others are hidden within temples or in hard-to-reach
13:12places.
13:13The second scroll arguably isn't worth the trouble, though.
13:16You get it by catching all 50 Rabbits around the overworld and taking them to the Rabbit
13:20Land Rescue.
13:21There are some Rabbits you can only gain access to by unlocking new sections of tracks by
13:26completing other side quests.
13:28This scroll lets you shoot beams from your sword, but tracking these Rabbits down is
13:32a big task.
13:40Tycoon Wallet, The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword
13:53In Skyward Sword, Link eventually meets Batreaux, a demon living in Skyloft who dreams of one
13:58day becoming human.
13:59In order for this to happen, Link has to collect 80 Gratitude Crystals, which are symbols
14:04of appreciation.
14:06That means making a whole lot of people happy.
14:09While some individual crystals are found in specific spots, most are earned in groups
14:13of five through side quests.
14:16Of course, some quests don't become accessible until certain points in the story, so this
14:20takes a huge amount of dedication.
14:23Some quests are fun, some are simple, and others are tedious and annoying.
14:28At the end, Batreaux gets to transform, which is a nice scene, and Link is rewarded the
14:33Tycoon Wallet, which can carry up to 9,900 rupees.
14:44Super Net, The Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds
14:55In A Link Between Worlds, Link can upgrade his items with every set of 10 Missing Children
15:00of Mother Miami.
15:02But if you want to upgrade your net, an item that arguably doesn't even need an upgrade,
15:06you'll have to work for it.
15:09Inside the treacherous tower found on Low Rule's Death Mountain, you can challenge
15:13yourself through three combat trials that increase in difficulty.
15:17Beginner holds 5 floors, Intermediate has 15, and Advanced has 50.
15:23Getting all of them gets you the Super Lamp, but you'll have to conquer the Advanced
15:27section a second time to get the Super Net, which lets the item deal damage instead of
15:32just catch things.
15:39Not only is that a ton of enemies, but Advanced costs 300 rupees to even try.
15:46It also isn't as forgiving as the Savage Labyrinth.
15:49While there are still recovery rooms, their healing resources decrease the higher you
15:54climb.
15:55Fierce Deity Armor, The Legend of Zelda Triforce Heroes
16:07Unlike its Four Swords precursors, this multiplayer entry does feature some unlockable items.
16:14Outfits can be equipped in Hytopia to bring about changes in gameplay.
16:18For the vast majority of them, Link buys them from Madame Couture by handing over enough
16:22rupees and the proper materials.
16:24However, the Fierce Deity Armor is a bit trickier.
16:28It's given to Link after he conquers the Den of Trials, a free DLC dungeon that, as its
16:33name suggests, is another combat challenge.
16:36This one is 40 levels, so not quite as hard as the others, but it ends with a fight against
16:42three Dark Links, who can be pretty tough.
16:45The armor is a cool reference to Majora's Mask, and allows Link to shoot sword beams
16:49at full health or with a spin attack.
16:59Powered Up Master Sword, The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
17:11Hitting the Master Sword in Breath of the Wild isn't too bad, it just takes navigating
17:15the Korok Forest and having enough hearts to pull it from the pedestal.
17:19But getting the fully powered up version?
17:21Hoo boy, strap in.
17:23Nintendo released the Trial of the Sword as part of the game's DLC, and it is the toughest
17:28combat challenge of any Zelda game by a wide margin.
17:32Broken up into three difficulty levels, the Trials take away all resources except for
17:37your Sheikah Slate.
17:38No armor, no weapons, no food, not even your champion abilities.
17:43You must collect resources as you go while defeating groups of monsters.
17:47At the end of each difficulty level, the Master Sword is powered up a bit more.
17:51But even with resting floors that allow you to cook some meals, this will take all your
17:56expertise to complete.
18:05Colton's Fabric, The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
18:18Tears of the Kingdom came with the option to swap out paraglider fabrics to suit your
18:22style.
18:23And while a cosmetic barely counts as an item with a use, barely still passes.
18:28The hardest of these to obtain belongs to Colton, brother of the first game's Kilton,
18:33who dreams of becoming a Satori.
18:35The only way he can do this is if Link tracks down every bubble frog in each cave, kills
18:40it, and collects its gem.
18:42Of course, there are 147 caves across the map, so this takes an extremely long time.
18:49To make it easier, you can light up caves by visiting a cherry blossom tree and set
18:54your Pura Pad sensor to bubble frogs.
18:56But the trees still light up caves you've already been to, which is unfortunate even
19:00though they're checked off on your map, and the sensor can go off far from the cave's
19:05actual entrance.
19:06That's not to mention that some caves are labyrinthine in design and are really good
19:11at hiding their bubble frogs.
19:13All this work just for some cloth.
19:21The Green Tunic, The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom
19:25There are a few outfits Zelda can earn on her own adventure.
19:35Many are easily unlocked, but the green tunic certainly isn't.
19:39In Kakariko Village, players can test themselves at the Slumber Dojo, which offers combat challenges
19:45with time limits.
19:47New trials become available through every part of the main story, so completing them
19:50all naturally takes a lot of time.
19:53Test wouldn't be too bad under normal circumstances, but the time limit can be stressful and bring
19:58about mistakes.
20:00Regardless, some of these are sure to make you rage.
20:03That blank slate battle Ice One with the Freezards is particularly painful.
20:08But if you want to dress like the legendary hero, you'll have to beat all 15 of them.
20:20What's an item from the series that tested your skills and patience?
20:23Let us know down in the comments.
