00:00I thank you Jon M. Chu for thinking of me when he wanted someone wicked.
00:04I think I want to bring all the food people to us.
00:07Curry laksa, nasi kandar, nasi lemak, chicken hor fun and rojak.
00:13I'm just listing out all the things that I want to eat now.
00:16Hi Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh.
00:18I'm Aryan from Golden Screen Cinemas Malaysia.
00:21Apa khabar?
00:22Khabar baik, apa khabar?
00:28I'll just dive right in.
00:29So you've done action, drama, comedy, sci-fi and now you're adding a musical under your belt.
00:36What made Wicked the right choice for this new chapter in your career
00:40and how does it feel to expand on an impressive portfolio with a musical?
00:45I mean it was such an incredible opportunity to be able to be part of this
00:50and I thank you Jon M. Chu for thinking of me when he wanted someone wicked.
00:56It's like Michelle Yeoh frets the bell.
00:58I always want to find something that's different, something that's challenging
01:03and Jon presented me with all of the above.
01:06I called him and I said you know the character that you're asking me to play
01:11it's a musical, she sings and you know I don't sing right
01:14and he goes like I'm sure you can and so I did.
01:19Madame Morrible is certainly no easy character to play.
01:23Apart from the singing, was there anything about that character that you found particularly challenging
01:28and was there anything about her that you found surprisingly relatable?
01:32Well the thing is with Madame Morrible is like if you watch Wicked the musical in the theatre
01:38then whether in London or in New York, Madame Morrible is the villain.
01:44But with Jon, he wanted this character to have much more complexities and nuances
01:50and which is something that I agree with because it's like
01:53it's no fun just playing one character on one note.
01:56How do you make it more interesting?
01:57How do you make it that you get surprised?
02:00What happens when you are blinded by your own ambition and dreams
02:04that you leave someone else's dreams and hopes and you dash their hopes?
02:09I think we find that in a lot of people around us
02:11and fortunately and unfortunately our world is filled with characters that we can see.
02:18It's not just black and white, it becomes grey.
02:20Whoever the hero is gets to write the story.
02:24If you could bring any part of Oz to Malaysia and vice versa, what would they be?
02:30Any part of Oz, I mean Emerald City is stunning
02:34but as Madame Morrible, the University of Shiz.
02:38Any aspects of Malaysia?
02:39Oh wow, I think I want to bring all the food and the people to Oz.
02:44You're making me hungry.
02:46You're making me hungry.
02:48If you had to bring top three foods from Malaysia for the citizens of Oz to taste, what would they be?
02:54That's easy.
02:55It's like curry laksa, nasi kandar, nasi lemak, chicken hor fun and rojak.
03:04I have more.
03:06I'm just listing out all the things that I want to eat now.
03:08Do you have a special message for all Malaysians as we approach the release of Wicked?

03:38Thank you, thank you.
03:42Don't be afraid.
03:43It's the wizard who should be afraid of me.
03:45The wizard that there is or was is ever gonna bring me down.
