00:00Dear Aunt Lucy, I have very important news.
00:04We're coming to Peru!
00:06Oh, help yourself.
00:08I had absolutely no idea what to expect
00:10and I was delighted that on page one I was chuckling.
00:13I just loved the adventure of this script.
00:16Every scene is something that you've never quite seen before.
00:21It's been really wonderful to come back to this world again.
00:24It's a sense of feeling like coming home.
00:26It was a particular joy introducing Olivia Colman and Antonio Banderas to the film.
00:32Antonio plays a character called Hunter Cabot,
00:35who is a charming, dashing riverboat captain.
00:38Capitan Hunter Cabot, at your service.
00:40A character got a life divided in everything that has to do with his daughter
00:45and the greed of generations of families that are searching for El Dorado.
00:50You mean...
00:52Hmm, ice chips.
00:54We gave him this wonderful, virtuoso challenge in this film,
00:58which is he doesn't just play himself, but he plays a whole variety of ancestors.
01:03If anyone can do it, it's you, young bear.
01:06As soon as Olivia put on her nun's habit, she became the Reverend Mother.
01:12To have interactions with the Browns family, Paddington and Mrs. Bird, was very exciting.
01:16She was entirely game for all her scenes, which vary from the sublime to the ridiculous.
01:24Paddington in Peru!
01:26It has been quite a jigsaw, this production.
01:29We were so keen to embrace Paddington making his big journey to Peru.
01:35We went to Peru to get variations of props and set dressing and fabrics
01:41that we could get from out there and bring them over here.
01:43I really wanted the colour of Peru within the costumes
01:48and the amazing craft that is still handmade in Peru.
01:54We're at this location called Berry Bushes Farm, which has been a bit of a godsend.
01:58Really, it's got so many places that we're able to go around and shoot in.
02:02They have this little enclave and they had a hundred and something Peruvian extras
02:07and 14 boats of various styles that we painted and then a full-on market.
02:13The art department and what the production has created to make Peru and all these sets is incredible.
02:20It's a real village, making Paddington, and bringing it all together
02:23as this sort of lovingly handcrafted film that you finally see.
02:28Ultimately, I hope audiences are going to feel that the qualities of Paddington's character continue to inspire.
02:34Paddington, what are you doing?
02:37I appear to be driving the boat!
02:40The thing I treasure most about Paddington is the problems he gets into.
02:44My favourite thing about Paddington is his innocence and just how naturally loving he is.
02:51He is such a beautiful role model for all humans and something for children to look up to.
02:57And we all need that. I think we all need a little bit more of Paddington.
