00:00for an exciting announcement and that is a brand new police station for Helensburg.
00:04Look on its face it's not the the most grand building that the New South Wales Government
00:10will build but what is extraordinary is how quick it's got knocked up and I think that's
00:15a real tribute to the New South Wales Police for working hard to get this facility up and running
00:21as quickly as possible and I was joking earlier that we might have to recruit Karen and her team
00:26to build some metros or some roads or even some residential housing because this has been in
00:30record time and exactly what the local community needs. Marianne is absolutely right the community
00:36has been promised a new police station for a long time and I remember touring the old one
00:41from the 60s or 70s that genuinely hadn't been updated for a long period of time.
00:46It was a reminder of how police work has changed in the state over those intervening decades and
00:51how we need to have modern facilities for a new police force that's focused on keeping the
00:56community safe. This is just the beginning of our investment in the north of Woolloongong when it
01:01comes to police resources. There'll be a dedicated car that's responsible for the north of Woolloongong
01:11local area command when the cars in the station intervene with the police station and staff
01:16but as we grow one of the good things about this station is as the police force grows
01:21and as the community north of Woolloongong grows there's the capacity to staff it on a permanent
01:27rotation as well as include more police officers from this station as part of their daily shift.
