Interview with James Gunn and Chris Pratt from Guardians Of the Galaxy
Transcript
00:00Let me tell you a story about Chris Pratt and his process.
00:04I was thinking of the Kurt Russell story.
00:11Tell me about his process.
00:12When Chris was laying back after work, after a hard day of working maybe an hour and a
00:18half doing some lines and hanging out in his trailer, you know, doing whatever he does
00:22in there.
00:23And then he's...
00:24Actually, he doesn't hang out.
00:25He hangs out on set all the time.
00:26I do give you props for that.
00:27You're hanging out.
00:28You get the pickles over your eyes.
00:29Pickles?
00:30Why would a person put pickles on their eyes?
00:31Cucumbers.
00:32They are cucumbers.
00:33Cucumbers.
00:34You're getting your head massaged.
00:35No, I wasn't even...
00:36My head was...
00:37I was getting my hair frosted.
00:38So I had foils in my hair.
00:39You had foils in your hair.
00:40You're sitting back there.
00:41So a PA comes in and goes, Chris, we have Coronas.
00:42Do you want a Corona?
00:43I was like, do you have any tequila?
00:44And he goes, yeah, I'll bring you one.
00:45So he brings me a tequila.
00:46Okay.
00:47I have tequila and lime, frosted tips, feet up.
01:01Nails being done.
01:02No.
01:03I think they were like tanning my hands.
01:05Okay.
01:06Tanning your hands.
01:07That's what he does.
01:08So much worse.
01:09I thought the nails were bad.
01:10Okay, tanning your hands.
01:11And then Kurt Russell came in and you said...
01:16No, no, no.
01:17Kurt Russell came in.
01:18OK.
01:19He's down at the end of the trailer.
01:20We didn't share the trailer at the time.
01:22And the PA came in, and there's this thing called a forced call.
01:25A forced call means they're going to bring you in less than 12 hours after you leave.
01:32So you drive an hour home, stay home for 10 hours, drive an hour back, and you're there
01:3712 hours later.
01:38That's called a turnaround time.
01:40But a forced call means they're going to bring you in a little earlier.
01:42They're allowed to do that once a week.
01:44They have to ask.
01:45But a second time, you get a little bit of a bonus in your paycheck.
01:49But they always have to ask.
01:50And so the guy said, Chris, we're thinking of maybe forcing your call tomorrow.
01:54We want to make sure that's OK.
01:56And I was a little annoyed, because I knew that the set was like an hour away.
02:00If I leave now, it's an hour, I'm only going to get like eight hours at home and come back.
02:04Because technically, I'm still working right now.
02:08Because I'd looked on the sign up, they'd had me leaving an hour earlier.
02:11But I was getting my handstand.
02:13And I go, I'm still working right now.
02:15And I hear, oh, yeah, real hard at work down there, kid.
02:19Working.
02:20Oh, yeah.
02:21I'm working.
02:22I'm working here.
02:23My feet kicked up.
02:24Getting my hands kicked.
02:25Oh, look at me working.
02:26Working with a tequila.
02:27Real tough gig, kid.
02:28I was like.
02:29You're right.
02:30You're right, Mr. Russell.
02:31Certainly, I'll be here.
02:32I'll be here early.
02:33Because I'm tough like Kurt Russell.
02:34You're eating oatmeal in the middle of the interview.
02:35Which I'm not.
02:36I'm not.
02:37I'm not.
02:38I'm not.
02:39I'm not.
02:40I'm not.
02:41I'm not.
02:42I'm not.
02:43I'm watching you do it.
02:45I did not eat any oatmeal in the middle of the interview.
02:48How did you see that?
02:50I did it incredibly slowly.
02:53I'm sure I'm invisible.
02:54Hi, Drax.
02:57Damn.
