Davina McCall has shared that she is undergoing surgery to remove a 14mm brain tumour, which was discovered during a routine health check. The 57-year-old former Big Brother host revealed on Instagram that she is among the rare three in a million people diagnosed with a "very rare" colloid cyst.Colloid cysts are benign, non-cancerous fluid-filled sacs found in or around the lateral and third ventricles of the brain, according to the London Neurosurgery Partnership. The Long Lost Family host explained that after consulting with multiple neurosurgeons and receiving "lots of opinions," she decided to have the tumour removed as it is "big for the space" in her brain, and could cause serious issues if it continues to grow. The Masked Singer judge mentioned she would be in the hospital for about nine days following the surgery and asked her fans to “pray for me,” though she reassured them that she was in "good spirits."

00:00Hi, so I'm posting this, it will be Friday morning and I'm doing it because a few months
00:09ago I did a menopause talk for a company and they offered me a health scan in return which
00:16I thought I was going to ace but it turned out I had a benign brain tumour called a colloid
00:22cyst which is very rare three in a million and so I slightly put my head in the sand for a while
00:33and then I saw quite a few neurosurgeons I got lots of opinions and I realized that I have to
00:43get it taken out. It's big for the space, it fills the space, it's 14 millimetres wide and it needs
00:54to come out because if it grows it would be bad. So I'm having it removed via a craniotomy that
01:06goes through the top of my head here and through the two halves of my brain to the middle, get the
01:11cyst, take it out, empty it, take it out, Bob's your uncle. So say a prayer for me, I am in good
01:21spirits, you coming around to say hi? Just letting people know that I will have my eye on her. He's
01:29got my back. In fact I offered to do the operation just to make sure it was done properly. She's in
01:38very good shape. Yeah and I'm also, I'm okay. It's been up and down obviously, we've been through a
01:44lot. Yes, but the important thing is that we're parting. The recovery, I'm gonna be in hospital
01:59for about nine days and then I'm gonna be going home but I'm gonna be off my phone for a while.
02:04So Michael might fill you in. Yes I could maybe do the odd post or something, I could dress up as you.
02:09He's gonna let you guys know how I'm doing but I don't want you to worry about me. I'm doing that
02:21enough I think. But I'm not worrying too much and I am in a good space and I have all the faith in
02:30the world in my surgeon and his team and I'm handing the reins over to him. He knows what
02:38he's doing and I'm gonna do the getting better bit after. And I can do updates on you as well, let
02:43people know what's going on. But yeah, the surgeon is fantastic. Amazing and I'll see you on the other side.
