00:00the final 48 hours later, a
00:09change of plans. Snip, snap,
00:11snap, snap. Anthony Richardson
00:13now back as the starting
00:14quarterback for the Colts. Joe
00:16Flacco back right in the pond.
00:18I love this. This is a great
00:19move and it's a sign of a
00:20healthy organization which I
00:21told you 2 weeks ago,
00:22something wasn't working right
00:23with Anthony Richardson as the
00:25quarterback. We know he's
00:26talented. He was a high draft
00:27pick and technically, you're
00:28not really going to go
00:29anywhere. It's just like it
00:30made the move that basically
00:31told us, hey, kid, you are so
00:33talented. You just can't ride
00:34the coattails of talent and get
00:36away with it. This is
00:37professional football. You got
00:38to do the work. You got to be
00:39the first man in and the last
00:40man out. Now, they didn't say
00:41that but every time I appear
00:43pro football today or even on
00:44this show as well, I said
00:46something is amiss with
00:47Anthony Richardson. It's not
00:48necessarily that he's not
00:49playing good football which he
00:50wasn't but the team wants to
00:51show you being the franchise
00:53guy and leading the way by
00:54example and I said he wasn't
00:56doing that and again, they
00:57didn't admit that but now we
00:58have Anthony Richardson saying
00:59quote, I think these two weeks
01:00have definitely opened my eyes
01:01and allowed me to take a deeper
01:03dive and look into myself and
01:04see what I'm made of. So, I'm
01:05thankful for these past two
01:06weeks and I'm low-key thankful
01:07that it happened. I love this
01:09because this means that, hey
01:10kid, you're going down the
01:11wrong direction. Not off the
01:12field, Ben. Just like chalk
01:14talking, being in the meetings
01:15and watching film and having to
01:16translate to the field which
01:17you have to get a
01:18retrospective. You know what?
01:19I want better for myself and
01:21this football team. Let me put
01:22the work in and show the coach
01:24that I'm ready to go. By the
01:25way, Anthony Richardson said all
01:26the right things over the past
01:27two weeks. You could have
01:28moped. You could have sat on
01:29the sideline, not talk to
01:30anybody. I can't believe that
01:31I'm not playing but obviously
01:32he put that work in and showed
01:34the team, the leadership as
01:35well as the players themselves.
01:36Guys, I'm ready to step back in
01:38and play. I apologize for what
01:39I've been doing in the past.
01:40I'm setting a new course right
01:41now. I love to see this and I
01:43think good things are on the
01:44horizon for the Colts and
01:45Anthony Richardson. Five total
01:47touchdowns but to seven
01:49interceptions. Four through the
01:51air. He did score on the ground
01:53in Indy's season opener. A
01:55close loss to the Houston
01:57Texans. He has not found
01:58Paytard since. Again, he's also
02:00only played five full complete
02:02games this year. He only played
02:05in four games to fully a season
02:07ago in his rookie campaign. We
02:10set it, Donnie, for this
02:11Indianapolis team that was
02:12thwarting with an eight and a
02:13half win total entering the
02:15twenty twenty-four season. It
02:16was de facto AR's rookie year
02:19once again because he needed to
02:22develop and one of the things
02:24that any draft evaluator in
02:26scout will tell you and it's
02:27not something that is overly
02:29groundbreaking is that if you
02:31struggle to complete the
02:32football and show efficiency in
02:34college when those windows are
02:36so much more open than in the
02:38National Football League, that
02:39is not something that generally
02:42improves in the NFL and that's
02:44been the case. Anthony
02:45Richardson's only full year as
02:47a starter at Florida. Fifty
02:49three point eight percent
02:50completion percentage this year
02:52the completion percentage is
02:53forty-four point four percent.
02:56It is not good whatsoever in his
03:00NFL career. His completion
03:02percentage is sub fifty. That's
03:05the number one thing that has to
03:07change. Not the arm talent, not
03:09the arm strength, not the
03:10athleticism. Donnie, I think
03:12Shane Steichen has to
03:13incorporate the offense around
03:15him, but when Anthony
03:16Richardson starts on Sunday in
03:18MetLife against the New York
03:19Jets and by the way, I agree
03:20with you, love the Colts plus
03:22three and a half entering that
03:24game on Sunday. I want to see
03:26Shane Steichen and Indy make
03:28sure Anthony Richardson gets in
03:30a flow early, screen pass, short
03:32passes, get him in a rhythm so
03:34that his closing stat line is
03:36eighteen of twenty-six or
03:38fourteen of twenty-two,
03:40something of the sort so it just
03:42looks better because that
03:43promise has to be there and now
03:45has to be there right away. And
03:47he gets Jonathan Taylor now all
03:49of a sudden completely healthy.
03:50You're telling me that running
03:51back against that whack Jets
03:53defense on the ground. Let's
03:54just say you get ninety-five
03:55plus yards on the ground. That
03:57means it opens up the entire
03:58passing game and the play action
03:59pass and also as we said, just
04:01taking a step back and watching
04:02it from the sideline and getting
04:04into your playbook and seeing
04:05things open up instead of saying
04:06you know what? I don't even know
04:07what the coverage is. Cover two,
04:08cover three, man zero. It
04:09doesn't matter. I'm talented.
04:10I have a strong arm. Now
04:12understanding those coverages
04:13and working with the coach and
04:14also getting the team to buy
04:16back in. This is a good look
04:18here because you look at the
04:19schedule coming up. It is the
04:20Jets first. Let's just keep it
04:21there. You're only one game back
04:23here. Seven was seven teams make
04:25the playoffs. Currently, you're
04:26eighth year. You win this
04:27football game. You might be at
04:28the end of Sunday ready to make
04:30the playoffs. Once again, it's
04:32the perfect move at the perfect
04:33time. It also might have been a
04:34little bit harder. Flacco played
04:35well over the past couple games
04:37that he started, but he didn't
04:38the perfect time to step in not
04:40looking over your shoulder and
04:41you know what else I love to Ben
04:43Shane stiking goes. You're the
04:44starter now and for the rest of
04:46the season. You don't have to go
04:47six for six for a hundred yards
04:49in the first quarter and two
04:50touchdown passes. Let the game
04:52come to you at this point. Now,
04:54no pressure on Anthony
04:55Richardson. Yeah, but he did
04:57also say that Joe Flacco was the
04:59starter for the rest of the
05:00season. So maybe we take
05:01stikings words with a grain of
05:04salt, but Donnie what was so
05:05interesting about the decision
05:06to go to Joe Flacco is the
05:08Colts got a taste of success
05:09last year, right in a year where
05:11they were expected to have those
05:12rookie lumps and growing pains
05:14with Anthony Richardson and a
05:16rookie head coach. They won
05:17nine games. They had a chance in
05:19week number 18 to be the Texans
05:21and to beat the Texans in a win
05:23the AFC South out of nowhere
05:25with the veteran quarterback in
05:27Gardner Minshew. So Indy's
05:29roster and fan base that is
05:31rather talented got a taste of
05:33success and the reason they put
05:35in Joe Flacco was because Indy
05:37considered itself a playoff
05:39team. They didn't look like it
05:41Flacco wasn't the guy we saw
05:42lead Cleveland to the postseason
05:44eight year ago. He was barely
05:45slinging the thing which is what
05:47I thought bare minimum Joe
05:48Flacco would provide to Shane
05:50stikings offense. It was all a
05:52very confounding situation. I
05:54hope the best for Anthony
05:55Richardson because the guy is
05:56talented and really can do it
05:58but you got to see the
05:59efficiency and accuracy again
06:01right away against New York.
06:03Yes, you do. And I don't know
06:04if it's look sometimes you have
06:05those cobwebs are nervous
06:06getting back in but I think you
06:07get the best version of Anthony
06:09Richardson against a wounded
06:10team. That is a superstar
06:12defense. That's playing at a
06:13bottom of the barrel level.
06:14Don't let them get up off the
06:15carpet. If he's athletic in this
06:16game and he's on early they
06:18should be able to take that
06:19fight right out of the New York
06:20gym.
