Only 58% of EU small and medium enterprises have reached a basic level of digital services, an enormous 32 percentage points behind the goal set by the EU Commission for 2030.

00:08European businesses are struggling to evolve from a digital point of view.
00:14Currently only 58% of small and medium sized
00:19enterprises, which make up the majority in the EU, have achieved a basic level of
00:25digitalization. The figure falls far short of the EU's target of 90% by 2030.
00:35Large enterprises, those with at least 250 employees, perform way better with 91% of them
00:44already reaching a basic level of digital services.
00:48What does it mean to reach a basic level of digital services?
00:53It means utilizing at least 4 of 12 digital technologies such as AI, social media,
01:02cloud computing and customer relationship management.
01:06The countries with the highest percentage of businesses with a very low level of
01:12digital intensity are Romania, Bulgaria and Greece, while on the other end of the
01:19spectrum, Finland, Malta and the Netherlands have the most businesses with a very high
01:27level of digital services.
