00:00The program for the use of locally made agri-machineries was approved by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.,

00:06the President of the Agency for the Improvement of Agri-Mechanization of the Country.

00:17With the goal of strengthening agriculture and ensuring food security in the country,

00:22President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. approved the program of the Department of Science and Technology

00:27that can strengthen the agriculture sector through the use of homegrown machineries.

00:33The President approved the Local Manufacturing Capabilities to Support Agri-Mechanization Program

00:39in the Sectoral Meeting held in Palacio that was led by the President.

00:42He pointed out that this type of machinery is cheaper compared to imported equipment used by farmers.

00:49He proved that these are effective,

00:52as well as the use of toad machines used in farming.

00:58The DOST also pointed out that this shift in the local production of machinery

01:03will have a major effect not only in the agriculture sector, but also in the manufacturing industry.

01:09According to DOST Secretary Solidum,

01:11mechanization is the first step in improving the quality and reducing the cost of farming,

01:17which is what the Agriculture Department recognizes.

01:20That is why the DOST provides equipment to farmers and cooperatives,

01:24especially through the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund.

01:28It should also strengthen the agri-machinery sector, especially since the country's resources are limited.

01:34In this way, it will be able to enhance the effective farming practices

01:39that will add to the productivity of farmers.

01:43The DOST supports this program,

01:45but it pointed out that it should focus on what machinery should be prioritized

01:50to ensure the quality of these.

01:52Because of this, President Marcos Jr. ordered the DOST, DA, and other research institutes

01:58to ensure the effective research in the agri-mechanization drive.
