Watch: Cobden's Rhys Unwin speaks about his 2024 AFL draft chances
Transcript
00:00Thanks for joining us Rhys, the head of the AFL draft. How are you feeling?
00:04Yeah, nah, I'm feeling good. Obviously a little bit nervous and excited at the same time.
00:09So yeah, nah, I'm feeling really good though.
00:12Tell us what role you'd like to play at AFL level if you made it.
00:15Yeah, I think the small forward probably role would probably suit me the best at the next level.
00:22I think obviously probably a bit more of a midfielder growing up and as a junior
00:28but I think that small forward role is probably what I see myself playing at the next level I think.
00:34What's the club been for you?
00:35Yeah, super important. They're like a second family down here
00:39and yeah, I can't thank them enough for what they've done for me
00:43and they've been awesome for my development too. So yeah, super great.
00:47And outside of footy, what do you enjoy doing?
00:50I spend a lot of time with me cousin Nelson down the road.
00:54He takes up a lot of my time and yeah, even his family, my family, they're super close
01:00and my friends and family, well I already mentioned them, but my friends as well.
01:05We're a super tight-knit group and yeah, they probably take up most of my spare time I think.
01:11And in the AFL, who do you sort of follow to hone your own craft?
01:18Like I said, Michael Walters is someone I look up to and Chad Warner from Sydney Swans
01:24and they're probably two players I sort of like to base my game off a little bit too.
01:28So they're someone I sort of look up to and watch a fair bit of footy.
01:33Best of luck.
01:34Thank you, appreciate it.
