00:00We are gathered here today and I'm joining activists in this movement to show them what
00:30is happening in this region where COP29 is currently being held in Baku.
00:41Are now trying to use this COP29 as a chance to greenwash their crimes and human rights
00:49abuses and we cannot stand silent in that and we cannot give them any legitimacy in this
00:57situation, which is why we are standing here tonight and saying no to greenwashing.
01:03The climate crisis is an existential crisis. 2024 is on track to become the hottest year
01:10ever recorded and last year global greenhouse gas emissions reached an all-time high and
01:16in this moment that the UNFCCC is hosting yet another COP climate meeting in an authoritarian
01:24petrostate is beyond absurd. I'm not going there because of this extreme hypocrisy. These
01:35COP processes are not leading to any meaningful change. The emissions keep on increasing and
01:41we keep moving in the wrong direction even though the science and those affected by the
01:46climate crisis have been warning us for decades about the consequences. Whatever the people
01:52in power are doing, they are doing it wrong because this is only leading us further, deeper
01:59into injustices and a climate catastrophe. Also the land borders to Azerbaijan are closed.
02:09They are not alone in this fight. People from all over the world stand in solidarity with
02:14the struggle for democracy and for justice and freedom. I am deeply inspired by their
02:21tireless efforts to fight for their basic human rights and showing back up time and
02:29time again despite the extreme repression that they are facing.
02:44I can use this to say what I want and no one will understand what I'm saying. I can talk
02:51about grapes or grapes or something. That's exactly why I'm saying it.
03:21Greta, are you vegan?
03:25Yes.
03:26You are?
03:27Yes.
03:28Yeah, I'm vegetarian. I can't be vegan yet.
03:35Don't fuel the crime! COP 29!
03:51COP 29!
