00:00Is Blake Lively an undercover Karen?
00:01I mean, what is the next five years?
00:03What does that mean? You see the movie.
00:05I did see the movie.
00:07From alleged co-star drama to her cringey press appearances,
00:10the actress is being exposed for a history of bad behavior that's only now catching up to her.
00:15Did you just take my picture?
00:17I'm your book mom.
00:18Did I ask you to take my picture?
00:21Erase it.
00:21Blake Lively is famous for her iconic starring role in the TV show Gossip Girl,
00:25her marriage to Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, and her signature flowing blonde hair.
00:30The 36-year-old has had a relatively charmed career ever since her breakthrough role in 2008's
00:34Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
00:36But everything changed recently due to her newest film, It Ends With Us,
00:40and the mysterious drama between Lively, the film's producer and star,
00:43and director-slash-co-star Justin Baldoni.
00:46People noticed something was off during the movie's American and European premieres
00:50when Baldoni was the only cast member noticeably absent from group photos and interviews,
00:55although he was present, he remained solo on the red carpet.
00:58Another eyebrow-raising moment that hinted at a potential feud
01:01came when Baldoni was asked if he would return to direct the film's sequel.
01:05I think there are better people for that one. I think there are better people for that one.
01:09Justin!
01:10I think Blake Lively's ready to direct, that's what I think.
01:12Eagle-eyed internet detectives discovered that despite Baldoni's kind words,
01:17neither Lively nor any other cast members from the film were following him on Instagram.
01:21Or even Colleen Hoover, the author of the book on which the film is based,
01:24then came an anonymous report that Baldoni had fat-shamed Lively while on set,
01:28which seemed to explain why the cast was distancing themselves.
01:32But that story came to a screeching halt when an on-set fitness trainer revealed the truth.
01:36Baldoni had asked about Lively's weight because he has a history of back problems
01:40and was preparing for a scene in which he lifts Lively in the air.
01:43The fat-shaming rumor took many people by surprise as it painted Lively as a bit of a
01:47mean girl who was purposefully trying to trash her co-star's reputation.
01:51Unfortunately for Lively, her plan totally backfired.
01:54Not only did the public defend Baldoni,
01:56some started pointing out other examples of Blake's past mean girl behavior.
02:00There was a painfully uncomfortable interview she and actress Parker Posey
02:04did with a Norwegian journalist back in 2016 while promoting their film Cafe Society.
02:08The resurfaced clip shows Lively's snarky response to the journalist complimenting her baby bump.
02:14First of all, congrats on your little bump.
02:17Congrats on your little bump.
02:19What about my bump?
02:21More interview clips have emerged from previous press tours of Lively's cringey behavior.
02:26In one, her joke about women exaggerating about their pregnancy pains has drawn some criticism.
02:31Any cravings? How's it going along? My wife's seven months right now,
02:34so I know what it's all like. The peat rubbing?
02:36Oh, she's just taking advantage.
02:38Is she?
02:38Totally.
02:39Oh, please. Please say that to Blake.
02:42Then there was this surprising response to a question she was asked during a Vogue magazine
02:46interview.
02:46Which Sex and the City character do you identify with most?
02:49Mostly the men.
02:51But the worst of it comes from Lively's repeated past use of the T-slur,
02:55a derogatory word for transgender women, that she's used both on video and in print.
02:59I read the gossip magazines and everybody is dating everyone, everybody hates everyone,
03:04everybody's had tons of plastic surgery and we're actually men and sh—, right? It's just like...
03:10It's not just Lively's past behavior getting her into hot water. Audiences have been perplexed by
03:15the cheery and lighthearted tone of the It Ends With Us press tour. The story involves traumatic
03:20themes like domestic violence between Lively and Baldoni's characters, but the movie's marketing
03:24has portrayed it as a fun, romantic love story filled with flashy fashions.
03:28It Ends With Us is in theaters now, so grab your friends,
03:32wear your florals, and head out to see it.
03:34Those who were offended by Lively's superficial explanation of the film were even more bothered
03:39that she promoted her new haircare line during the movie press tour. Fans and critics alike
03:44were puzzled by the actress's tone-deaf decision to sell her products when she could have used the
03:48opportunity to speak on the seriousness of intimate partner violence, something that
03:52affects about 41% of women in the United States. What's the best way for them to be able to talk
03:57to you about this? How would you recommend they go about it? Like asking for like my address or
04:01my phone number or like my location share. I could just location share you and then we could...
04:08Does Blake Lively deserve the amount of criticism she's receiving,
04:11or is the public dogpiling on an innocent woman? The truth is likely somewhere in between.
04:16People's fascination with celebrities shifted dramatically during the pandemic,
04:20where massive displays of wealth and privilege went from aspirational to nauseating. The past
04:25few years have seen social media influencers replace movie and TV stars as more relatable,
04:30down-to-earth sources of entertainment. Perhaps Blake's reputation will bounce back,
04:34or perhaps she and other out-of-touch A-listers will be left behind.
