William Byron walks through what more the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports team needed after coming up short of a championship at Phoenix.
Transcript
00:00Well, it was a third place finish in the championship hunt for William Byron.
00:04You come up short again in this championship run, but what can you say about this crew
00:07here today at Phoenix?
00:08Yeah, just, uh, we gave everything we had, so that's, uh, that's something to be proud
00:13of.
00:14You know, we, even on the strategy side, like we, we had to do something different.
00:16Uh, we're behind the two Penske guys and really made a great call and got us the, uh, got
00:21us the lead and, um, we tried to hold it off, but just couldn't.
00:25So, um, yeah, really, really proud of the effort.
00:28Really like our, our team grew a lot this year.
00:30We had a lot of adversity and, um, to come out here and give it all we had was something
00:35to be said, but definitely one of the biggest thing is we want to improve these tracks and
00:39if we can improve, uh, the mile tracks, I feel like we can be back here in a better
00:43spot.
00:44A huge year for you overall, though.
00:45You're a Daytona 500 champion.
00:47Nobody can take that away from you.
00:48You also celebrated the 40th year of Hendrick Motorsports.
00:51So let's chalk up the big picture of the 24th, 2024.
00:55Yeah, it's, uh, definitely now's the reflecting time, you know, in the next few days.
01:00So I haven't reflected much on the 500 this year, but it's definitely something to, uh,
01:04to look back on and, and just, uh, the memories made there and just overall our year was,
01:09was really special.
01:10Anytime you can make the championship for and have a shot.
01:13So, uh, hopefully we'll try to go out, win more races, be faster next year, uh, some
01:17more motivation for us to, to improve.
01:20And, um, I know we will.
01:21Thanks William.
01:22Yeah.
