00:00I've been waiting to make this film for most of my adult life and every day you're getting
00:13closer to your death.
00:14And at first I think it's a joke, I mean here's this guy, he's a business consultant, he doesn't
00:32look particularly fit and he's planning to take part in the Dakar Rally.
00:38It's like you're breathing out and you go, here we go, here we go, this is it, this is
00:44the start of the Dakar Rally.
00:48He's never ridden that bike, so he's going to go on this bike that he's never ridden
00:51to then undertake a 10,000 kilometre race across some of the harshest terrain in the
00:57world.
00:58We've got a bloody amazing story.
01:09The body just wants to keep on moving forward.
01:14And the mind is no longer driving the body, the body is driving the mind.
01:21The race is just a vehicle, it's all the things that you go through all year long trying to
01:25beat the time.
01:26Time is not stopping.
01:27It's hell here, this is just hell.
01:32Three days of riding a motorbike on extremely rough terrain without the use of one of your
01:36arms.
01:38I've never ridden a motorbike in my entire life, I guess.
01:41He was 36, you know, how can this happen, he just died.
01:44So I'm going to take him with me, he's going to be my co-pilot.
01:48If you don't go and chase your dreams, you don't know what's going to happen the next
01:53day, you really don't know.
01:56On the string, you hang on to it, you hang on to it, even if the string starts ripping
02:02apart and you start falling off, you just hang on to it.
02:07Make it happen.
02:08No matter what, you just hang on to it.
02:17What is it that you have done in your life that makes you say, yes, I'm happy having
02:22had such a life?
