At the launch of the 11th World Fujian Convention held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Nov 9, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul said the Hokkien community in Malaysia stands out as they maintain their identity and tradition while actively contributing to the nation's economy.

He said the community is an inspiring example of how diverse communities in the nation can unite to drive national development.

01:15In my own engagement with the Malaysian Chinese community, I have to appreciate its rich diversity.
01:24What impresses me most, however, is the unity that underpins the diversity.
01:31Among this group, the Hokkien community stands out.

01:44a significant force in Malaysia's growth and success.
01:48I wish each of you continued prosperity and hope that the bonds of cooperation
