00:00Grand Theft Auto is coming back and it's coming back to Vice City, which means there's a chance
00:04for fans to revisit their favorite locations from their prior adventures in Grand Theft Auto's
00:09Miami. So I'm Si for WhatCulture.com and here are 10 Vice City landmarks we want to see in
00:15Grand Theft Auto 6. Number 10, Tommy Vercetti's Scarface Mansion. You can't really have an
00:21adventure in Vice City without being able to at least visit the iconic mansion, right? If you
00:25cast your mind back to the original Vice City, the mansion is actually probably the most important
00:29building in the entire game. It acts as the center of Tommy Vercetti's criminal empire and is involved
00:34in loads of missions, including iconic ones such as killing Ricardo Diaz, its previous owner,
00:39or the final showdown against Lance Vance. Plus it was just a really cool place. Despite it being
00:44quite empty, it felt awesome to be given your own mansion, which was itself of course heavily
00:49inspired by Scarface, as is Tommy Vercetti himself. The red interior, the office with the screens,
00:54it's Scarface in all but name. Now imagine seeing it in 4K HD. The mansion has to be included in
01:00Grand Theft Auto 6, whether as an unlockable place to visit or in fact own, or just a really
01:05cool easter egg for fans of the series. Bonus points if we can get a mission in there as well.
01:10Number 9, the Malibu Club. Continuing on the theme of Vice City landmarks being inspired by Scarface,
01:16this time it's the Malibu Club, which was inspired by the Babylon Club from the film. If you've played
01:20Vice City, you'll remember this place fondly. Not only is it the backdrop of several missions,
01:25including meeting everyone's favourite cockney idiot Kent Paul, it's also able to be purchased
01:29later on by Tommy and becomes part of his empire. It's actually one of the few landmarks in Vice
01:34City that you can actively go inside of. And if you do, you'll find a bunch of patrons strutting
01:38their stuff on the dance floor, while four NPCs who look suspiciously just like the village people
01:43are performing live on stage. As with any GTA playthrough, it can be tempting to cause some
01:47mayhem in the club, however doing so will prompt the bartender to instantly whip out a stubby
01:52shotgun and proceed to really ruin your day. With the power of modern consoles, you could fill this
01:57with people, missions, events, and, uh, yes, more chaos and stubby shotguns, I expect. Number 8,
02:02Interglobal Studios. Interglobal Studios, aka Vice City's answer to Universal Studios, is one of the
02:08most memorable locations in the city. In the original game, it's a... adult studio, where
02:14director Steve Scott, a parody of Steven Spielberg, filmed the appropriately named Candy Sucks in
02:19several classic movies such as Bite, Closer Encounters, Fun Bags, and Return of the Anaconda.
02:26In Vice City Stories, the studios are repurposed by Rainey Vosselmayer, who is using it to film
02:30commercials and edgy pop music videos. It would be really cool to see it again in GTA 6. The
02:35studios had some great sets in the original, with battleships, a moon landing set, and even a gothic
02:40showcase. Perhaps a series of missions with Steve Scott, now somehow even worse than he originally
02:44was, relegated to filming absolute drivel, could be the perfect way to integrate it straight into
02:49GTA 6's Vice City. Number 7, Hyman Memorial Stadium. Given the series' huge obsession with
02:55racing, an arena just like the Hyman Memorial Studio, which appeared in Vice City, is a must
03:00for Grand Theft Auto 6. In Vice City, the stadium was home to three events, the Hot Ring, the Blood
03:04Ring, and the Dirt Ring. Like the Malibu Club, it's again one of the locations which has its own
03:09interior in Vice City. The Hot Ring is a NASCAR style race, the Blood Ring is Demolition Derby,
03:14and the Dirt Ring places you on a dirt bike to complete stunts. All three types of race were
03:18great fun in the original, and with the technology Rockstar is no doubt pumping into Grand Theft Auto
03:226, it could really be something special to beef it up. And a little bit of trivia while we're here,
03:28using the word Hyman might seem like a joke based on sex, because, you know, Grand Theft Auto, but
03:32it might in fact be a reference to another gangster movie. This could be a nod to Hyman Roth, who is
03:37in The Godfather Part 2 and lived in Miami. There you go. Number 6, Ocean View Hotel. Everyone will
03:44recognize the Ocean View Hotel. It's the very first safe house in Vice City, and you'll end up
03:48going there a lot to save your game. Remember the days before autosave? You'll also remember it for
03:53being the place where you could take Tommy to change back into his stunning Hawaiian shirt,
03:57or street clothes, most likely after you've been dressed up in one of the other hideous outfits
04:02the game has to offer and wanted to get rid of it immediately. Like lots of other things in Grand
04:06Theft Auto Vice City, the Ocean View is based on a real-life location. This time it's the Clevelander
04:11Hotel. You'll probably remember the ocean road the hotel is on to in Vice City, with sun beaming down
04:16on you and the glorious neon-tinged buildings all around you. Ah, can't wait to see that. Such a
04:22memorable location has to be at least referenced in Grand Theft Auto 6, if not be a major part of
04:27the story in fact. Very curious to see who could own the Ocean View Hotel in this iteration of Vice
04:33City. Number 5, Starfish Island. Starfish Island in its entirety would have to be in Grand Theft
04:38Auto 6 if it takes place in Vice City. It's the central hub of the rich and the famous of the town.
04:43Not only is it where Tommy Visetti's aforementioned iconic mansion resides, but it's also home to
04:48loads of other huge houses too, including those with swimming pools in the shape of a woman's body
04:53and another that looks just like the Rockstar logo. It adds something to Vice City's overall
04:58aesthetic and also includes some of the coolest sports cars, aircraft and speed boats available
05:03in the game just waiting for you to steal them. It's an exciting prospect for GTA 6 as Rockstar
05:09is well known for creating truly stunning open worlds. You can only imagine how opulent their
05:13take would be on an island made for the rich and famous using the technology they have available
05:18to them now. The trivia for you in this one is that it was originally meant to be called Star
05:22Island and Tommy even refers to it as such in one mission before the change was made.
05:27Number 4 The Pole Position Club
05:30If there's one thing you could probably remember this club for it's the terrible,
05:33terrible dance moves of the NPCs inside. The Pole Position Club is again one of the few
05:37locations in Vice City you can go inside of. It's a strip club themed on motorsports and
05:42is also one of the locations Tommy can actually purchase as part of his empire. But boy oh boy,
05:47those dance moves were something else weren't they? It doesn't help that to complete the club's
05:50missions and have it generate revenue you have to sit through at least $300 worth of these dances.
05:56In GTA 6 at least a nod to the strip club from the original would definitely be appreciated.
06:00While Grand Theft Auto is perhaps a tad more tasteful than it once was, just a tad mind you,
06:05they probably still couldn't shy away from including the strip club as part of the city.
06:09And in fact why not because there's a pole position in Los Santos in Grand Theft Auto 5
06:13so clearly it became a chain after the 1980s.
06:16Number 3 For Baxter Air Base
06:19It's almost a rite of passage in a Grand Theft Auto game that somewhere in there there'll be
06:22a military base and inside that military base there's some kind of excellent object that allows
06:27you to cause untold destruction in the most efficient manner possible. In Vice City that
06:31honour goes to Fort Baxter Air Base. If you enter the base you'll instantly get shot by the soldiers
06:36inside. That is of course unless you're wearing a cop outfit or army fatigues and if you are,
06:41you can just waltz right on in there and steal whatever you want. Which of course is the Rhino
06:45Tank. And if you've collected all the hidden packages, the Hunter Helicopter. Just like
06:49other GTA games before it, Grand Theft Auto 6 surely has to contain a military base complete
06:54with all kinds of goodies inside. I mean really, would it be a Grand Theft Auto game without the
06:59ability to drive a tank down Main Street? Don't try and fix what ain't broken if you're gonna
07:03have a military base, it might as well be Fort Baxter.
07:06Number 2 Little Havana slash Little Haiti
07:09There's a significant plot arc in Vice City where Tommy is unbeknown to each gang,
07:13working for both the Cubans and the Haitians at the same time,
07:16causing havoc and gang wars between the two. The bulk of these missions take place in and around
07:21Little Haiti and Little Havana, featuring such iconic locations as the weird shack where Tommy
07:25is drugged, the junkyard where you have to rescue Lance Vance and that weird cafe where Umberto
07:30Robina always hangs out and shouts at people about nonsense. They're also home to Tommy's
07:35printing press for making fake money, a huge solvent factory that you can blow up and Kaufman
07:40cabs which Tommy can also purchase. They're such a vast and sprawling area of Vice City that it
07:45would be a shame not to see them both represented in Grand Theft Auto 6. It'd be interesting to see
07:49how they've changed over time, perhaps they've become gentrified. Or perhaps they're an unfortunate
07:54war zone.
07:54And Number 1 Leaflinks Golf Course
07:57Remember the first time you got into the Leaflinks Golf Course in Vice City, had all your
08:00weapons taken off of you in the metal detectors and then found that the only methods you had for
08:04causing havoc were to run people over in a golf cart or thwack them with a golf club? Ah yes,
08:09good times. While there's no way to actually play golf at Leaflinks, it's still a really cool
08:13location to visit. You can even get yourself a nifty little golf outfit for Tommy just so he
08:18looks the part while he's out there on the course. Leaflinks is also home to one of the three cement
08:23shoe men, unfortunate souls who have been given concrete shoes by the Mafia and then sunk to the
08:27bottom of the ocean. Visit the west side of the island to find him, just don't fall in because
08:31Tommy Visetti can't swim. Hopefully that's not the case with your character in Grand Theft Auto 6
08:35and hopefully you can play golf this time. And again that was in Grand Theft Auto 5 so why not,
08:40as was vast character creation, so I want to see lots of different golf outfits please.
08:45But most importantly, just let me run people over in a golf cart again, it's quite simple.
