00:00Joe, let's start off with the three things to get ready for for next week.
00:04All right, here we go.
00:05Those three things limited cold air across most of the country next week.
00:08There's just really no Arctic intrusions for this time of the year.
00:12Severe weather threat in the Mid-South.
00:13It's fairly limited.
00:14It's probably going to be Wednesday, maybe parts of Missouri, Illinois, Illinois, southward
00:18the northeast after a front moves through Monday.
00:20It's dry until midweek.
00:22But then, as Ari was talking about, there's probably going to be some rain as we go into
00:25Thursday.
00:26Here's the pattern for next week.
00:27You see this dip in the jet stream here.
00:29That originates here, Sunday night and Monday.
00:31So as that comes in, you're going to get some rain, wind, snow for the mountains, and obviously
00:36rain at the low levels.
00:38That moves through.
00:39A second one comes in with more wet weather later next week.
00:41South of there, you're going to have dry weather across the southern Rockies.
00:44This feature in here, maybe there's some severe weather in here midweek.
00:47That continues to move east, but it's going to take on what we call a negative tilt, kind
00:51of like this, because of a downstream block.
00:53What that means is the dry weather here is probably going to change, and we do expect
00:57to see some wet weather moving in on Thursday.
01:00All right, Joe.
01:02When we take a look at the Midwest and the Northeast, rain and snow are needed, and we've
01:07seen it in the Midwest, not so much in the Northeast, but look where we are when we went
01:11into the summer.
01:12We had no drought.
01:13We didn't have any drought.
01:14None.
01:15None.
01:16And now, look how bad.
01:17This was the latest update this week, Joe, on the right there.
01:19Pretty much every state east of the Mississippi has got some kind of drought conditions.
01:23In some places, it's pretty bad, particularly Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey
01:28into southern New England.
01:29There's some rain on the way for the coming week, but it's not going to be a lot.
01:33And really, the pattern as a whole doesn't change an awful lot.
01:35As we get to Thanksgiving, though, we think there's some subtle change that begin in Europe,
01:40work their way across Asia, and eventually translate into pattern changes for the U.S.
01:44It may be brief in nature, but it dries out for much of the West, and particularly the
01:47Southwest.
01:48Weak storms come through, and that's going to impart some chilly air as we go to Thanksgiving
01:53weekend, we think, for the Northeast.
01:54All right.
01:55Akua, the long-range expert, Joe Lumberg.
01:57Joe, thanks for joining us.
01:58You're welcome.
