The Archbishop of Canterbury has said that he considered resigning as recently as Thursday morning - over a report revealing that senior members of the Church of England “covered up” abuse perpetrated by one of its members for more than 40 years. It was a 2017 Channel 4 News investigation that first exposed the abuse by John Smyth, described today as the Church’s “most prolific abuser.” Report by Jonesia.
