00:00Let's talk about coach Dan Laney for a quick second. Why do you think he's such a good recruiter?
00:06I think the truth is everything to a kid when you're coming out of high school.
00:13You just want pure honesty, you want the truth.
00:15And I don't know how it works now with NIL, but I know to me when I was back in high school, I just wanted the honest truth.
00:21What it's going to be, how we're going to get it done, and what's the plan.
00:25I think he set his goal on being honest, tell you how it is when you get here.
00:32And we tell the recruits too when they get up here, they ask us how it is playing football.
00:36Yeah, they're like, what's bringing you here?
00:38They're like, how is it really like up here?
00:41And when you hear them say, when you come here, you're going to practice.
00:44You're going to work every day, you're going to go to school, and you're going to come back, have meetings, and you're going to be up here all day.
00:51And they come to the side and be like, how it really is.
00:54I'm like, if you have any dreams of going to the next level, this is the school you want to be at.
00:59Like, there's no other school you want to be at other than here.
01:03A lot of schools, you got a lot of distraction around you, but we in Eugene right now, it's football.
01:08Like, football all day.
01:09Like, you don't really have school until the fifth game of the season.
01:14So, you come up here, you got football all day, and that's what you're focused on.
01:17And if you want to get better at football and continue to be the best, that's what you want to do.
01:21Coach Landon, you know him personally.
01:24What kind of growth have you seen in him from last season to this season?
01:29I think the not afraid to, like, he's never been afraid to get on to you.
01:35But in a game, I never really seen it until, like, last game.
01:40Like, me and Coach Landon are the most passionate people on earth when it comes to football.
01:45And when we know a play can work, it's like, we can run this.
01:49No, you do this and do it right now.
01:52Like, okay, I'll do it.
01:53And then we'll go back, look at film together and be like, okay.
01:57Now I see why you said it.
01:59And then he'll go back and say the same thing.
02:01I see why you said this too, but look how we got this here and look how we did it.
02:06And I'll be like, huh, I didn't see that.
02:08And there's certain stuff that he see that we don't see.
02:11And as for a coach, when you do that, the confidence the players gain
02:15and they hear coaches, everything you tell you, you're going to believe.
02:18Like, every game that we ready to run through a brick wall for that man.
02:22Because he's going to give you all that he got.
02:24He's going to give you 100% every day.
02:26And he's the most mentally prepared and mentally tough guy I've ever seen in my life.
02:32Like, I don't know how he does it.
02:34I don't know how he, like, the consistency is unbelievable.
02:39Does he sleep?
02:41I don't know, he'll come in and see me and his hair is wild.
02:44And he's like, he didn't sleep last night.
02:46Like a wild scientist hair.
02:47Yeah, like he's – like he puts stuff to bed.
02:49So, like when we win a game, he put it to bed so fast.
02:51We go to the doctor, put it to bed and it's the next game already.
02:54And you up there, like you switch your focus from last game to now.
02:57Like that.
02:58Like you got to be able to turn it on and turn it off within minutes.
03:02With the seconds when it comes to the coach.
