00:22MIMAROPA's fisheries sector is now worth more than Php 18 million.
00:29Because of the typhoon Christine, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources of MIMAROPA
00:34has assured that they are ready to provide partial assistance to affected fishermen.
00:41Because of this, the province of Romblon is affected the most
00:50and the damage to the quality of life of the fishermen is at Php 5.3 million.
00:59Despite this, Perez said that they are currently preparing
01:03to reach out to the affected farmers
01:06and continue to consult with the Department of Agriculture
01:10as well as in the preparation of the distribution of assistance
01:13through Presidential Assistance to Farmers and Fisherfolks, or PAF.
01:18We are already preparing the names of the affected fisherfolks
01:23so that they will be eligible to the program that we have.
01:28And secondly, as per instructions of our National Director, Director C. Pelayo,
01:35to facilitate and validate all those affected fisherfolks
01:43and then the requisition of possible funds.
01:47In addition to Perez,
01:49the affected farmers have also declared their damaged equipment and products
01:54so that they can be counted among those who will receive government assistance.
01:58We are encouraging our fisherfolks to declare their damages
02:07because the principle of our Disaster Risk Reduction Management
02:11is that the damage and losses assessments that are being reported to us
02:19should not be left behind.
02:24BFAR will continue to consult with local government units
02:28to speed up the process of receiving assistance
02:33from the government in the entire region of Mimaropa.
