00:00So a good way to maximise distance and improve your accuracy is to try and reduce the spin
00:12on the ball.
00:13Obviously you can have too little spin but generally in my experience golfers have too
00:16much spin with their drivers so they're hitting down on the ball too much which is creating
00:21too much spin and it costs a lot of yardage.
00:25Very important regarding tee height that you tee it nice and high like this.
00:28I see a lot of golfers teeing it down.
00:32The lower you tee it that's going to encourage you to hit down on the ball too much.
00:36The angle of attack will be 2, 3, 4, 5 degrees down and that's what creates excessive spin.
00:42So just by teeing that ball higher making sure that more or less half of the ball is
00:47above the top edge of the club there is going to encourage you instinctively to really feel
00:52like you're going to hit up on the ball rather than down on the ball.
00:56You can see here when you tee it higher the right shoulder starts to sit much lower giving
01:00that nice shoulder tilt.
01:02So a nice simple drill you can do to start hitting up on the ball a little bit more after
01:06you've given yourself the correct tee height of course is use a golf ball box around about
01:11a foot in front of the ball that you're hitting.
01:15This is a good indicator because if you're going to hit down on this you can see how
01:19the club will hit down into the ball, maybe break the tee peg if you're using a wooden
01:23one and the club head will extend through into the box.
01:26If you've got the correct angle of attack of hitting this up say 1, 2, 3 degrees on
01:31the up you can see how I'll strike the ball and go above the box.
01:35So a really simple measure of how your angle of attack is if you haven't got the launch
01:38monitors etc.
01:40So let's set up, let's give that a go and see if I can miss the box.
01:48So a nice tee shot straight down the middle, very little spin on it, it's going to give
01:52me plenty of run and I miss the box.
01:54So simple drill to reduce your spin, hit longer and straighter drives.
