00:00Well everybody, there it is. Honda's 2024 CB650R middleweight neosports cafe
00:06motorcycle. This particular product was originally introduced into America for
00:11the 2019 model year. It's a part of Honda's three bike neosports cafe line.
00:17We have the CB300R, we have the CB650R, and then we have the big dog of them all
00:23the CB1000R. Now for 2024, this motorcycle sees a number of nice changes
00:30highlighted by the introduction of Honda's e-clutch technology. Now e-clutch
00:35fully automates the clutch actuation experience, so you no longer have to
00:41actuate the clutch manually. The motorcycle automatically do it for you
00:45via a ingeniously designed mechanical system. It's worth noting that
00:51this motorcycle isn't the same as dual clutch transmission, and you still have
00:55to shift this motorcycle manually with the left-hand side mounted gear shift
01:01lever, but it does have an electronic quick shifter that's integrated into
01:04the shifting experience. This motorcycle continues to be powered by a 649cc
01:09inline-four engine, dual overhead camshafts, water-cooled 16-valve cylinder
01:14head. This engine is good for 81 horsepower at the business end of that
01:1817-inch Dunlop Sport Maxx Road Sport 2 tire. This engine drinks from a 4.2 gallon
01:24fuel tank and delivers right around 38.5 mpg. Now with a full tank of gas, this
01:30motorcycle weighs in at 456 pounds. It rolls on 17-inch cast aluminum wheels
01:36with triple disc hydraulic brakes from Nissan. There's those nice four piston
01:42radio mount calipers. Fixed always on ABS is a part of this motorcycle. Now we
01:48really like the styling of this 2024 CB650R. Its lines are really nice. It
01:54looks modern, but still has touches of where Honda's been with those awesome
02:00organ-like exhaust pipes that are powered from a 1970s CB motorcycle. Very
02:07nice. This motorcycle looks awesome, and the fit and finish is top-notch. We have
02:12full LED lighting front and back, and now we have this nice 5-inch color TFT
02:18display. This is a huge upgrade over the previous monochrome one-color design,
02:23which is really hard to read in direct sunlight. A lot of adjustment inside this
02:28system, which we use with this also new back-lit multi-control button, which we
02:33use to control the functions. The tactile feel of this button is pretty
02:37good when you're not wearing gloves, but if you are wearing gloves, it's a little
02:41bit hard to use. There is some of the features of the motorcycle where you can
02:44adjust the display brightness and how to manually turn off Honda's
02:51e-clutch if you want, but the e-clutch works so seamlessly I don't even know
02:54why you'd ever turn it off. Of course, if you want to shift or actuate the clutch
03:00manually, you still can because the clutch lever is there. The choice is
03:04yours. With Honda's 2024 CB650R, it's worth noting that you cannot buy this
03:10bike without the e-clutch. The e-clutch is a standard feature, but you don't have to
03:14use it if you don't want to. The e-clutch is right here. It consists of an upper
03:18and lower control arm and two motors which drive the system. There are the
03:24motors. It makes the engine just slightly more wide, maybe about an inch, inch and a
03:29half. That's all. So that is the actual system of the e-clutch. Now, other changes
03:36for this motorcycle include a slight chassis modification. The headstock is a
03:41little bit more rigid and these twin steel spars have a little bit more flex.
03:45That's just optimizing the rigidity of this motorcycle. It just makes it for more
03:50awesome handling when you're riding on the track or on the street. Now, this
03:54particular model now retails for $9,400. It's built in Thailand and carries a
04:00one-year warranty. Well, everyone, that's a quick review of Honda's 2024 CB650R
04:07Neosports Cafe bike. We'll see you the next episode.
